The game asks you to pick a name as it starts. Only players with a name appear on the weekly board; this screen used to be skippable, and whoever skipped it never saw the board at all. The continue button in the main menu is now the same gold as your stars. It is the button that matters most in there, and its colour had gone flat. A few fixes under the hood

The red gate Some levels have a second gate beside the path, and it's red. Touch it and the level starts over, along with any stars you'd picked up in it. It used to be white and nobody worked out what it was for. Slow time In 37 levels, hold your finger down and time drags. Lift it and the orb launches. The arc around the orb shows how much you have left. These levels are hard. The gate isn't free any more It stays shut until you collect at least one star, and it looks shut. Upside-down levels start at 25, trap gates at 35, inverted colours at 45. All three used to begin after level 150, so most people never saw them. The tutorial is longer. Rules that were never written down anywhere are explained once now. Notifications are asked for on first launch. It says what we send, and you can turn it off whenever. Your stars and finished levels are untouched.

The headline this time: premium players can replace the game's sounds with their own voice. YOUR OWN SOUNDS (PREMIUM) • Record the hop, the star, the gate, the life lost, the death and the level complete. • Recording starts after a 3-2-1 countdown. • Your hop recording rises with the combo and comes back down. • Recordings stay on your phone. They are never uploaded. RANKING • The weekly board is split into six ranks, Spark through Zenith. • It opens with a hundred rows and Show more adds more. • Your rank shows even with no connection. CHARACTERS • Seven new orbs: Moon, Atom, Nova, Planet, Bolt, Droplet, Ghost. • Past 620 stars there was nothing left to earn. Thresholds now run to the last star, and no gap is wider than 90. AUDIO AND HAPTICS • The hop no longer tops out on a long combo — it climbs and comes back down. • Losing a life has its own sound. • Dying in endless mode played two sounds over each other. • Haptics work again after the app has been backgrounded. • Sounds cut each other off during fast streaks. Fixed. TUTORIAL • It now covers that there's no limit on hops, that yellow stars unlock characters, and what the arcs turning green to red actually do. • The first bonus round explains itself. • On the map, collect levels are hexagons and timed levels carry a stopwatch dial. The badge at the start of a level names its rule instead of guessing at a difficulty. • Level 10 announces that Endless and Speed Run are open. SCREENS • Personalize, Premium and Settings are three separate screens now. • Characters, backgrounds and your own sounds live together. • A feedback box in Settings. • A short note when there's no connection. LOOK • Rings, background and orb pulled to neutral grey. NEW • Thirty new levels — the campaign is now 150 levels long. • Collect rounds: the green gate stays locked until you have swept up every light on the map. Landing on it does not open it; you simply keep orbiting. One mistake restarts the whole round with all the lights back. • Grand stars: some levels replace the three small lights with a single giant star worth four. It sits off the flight line, so you have to leave your path to earn it. Both kinds start appearing at level 60 and grow more frequent toward the end. • The world ranking is now weekly. The board resets every Monday, so the top is within reach again each week, and the current top three sit on the main menu with the time left before the reset. • Names are unique now. A name is chosen once, no two players can hold the same one, and the game asks for yours on first launch instead of leaving you to find the screen. CHANGED • Running the countdown out on a ring no longer kills you. The orb launches itself. The arc turning red is a warning that the automatic launch is coming, not a punishment — take the shot yourself if you want a better angle. • Difficulty no longer flattens out in the late game. Ring count, speed and hazard arcs keep climbing all the way to the end. FIXED • Continuing an endless run after an ad works properly. The orb comes back on the ring it died on with your score intact, and the camera follows it there. Before, the orb was left outside the visible area and the first tap ended the run instantly. • Rewarded ads now reliably grant their reward. • The small tip shows up in the shop again. Have fun.
