A new, fast speech model for major languages. Bangla and Persian get speech models of their own, downloaded only when a video needs one. When CapiCap isn't sure which language is spoken, it asks instead of guessing. Editing is quicker: a bar above the keyboard plays the video and jumps between captions while you type. On iPad, iPhone Duo and Mac, drop a video anywhere on Home to start. On Mac, exporting works again. Plus fixes and improvements.

New: Cover sets your caption behind the person in the video, like a headline on a magazine cover. Pick it and CapiCap finds the right height for it by itself. More looks and effects: Glide and Chip join the lineup, words can pop in or appear one at a time, and captions can cast a hard shadow, glow, or invert against the picture. Move captions sideways, too. “Clear of buttons” keeps them out from under the like and share buttons of short-video apps, and it can be the default for your vertical videos. Captions now fit landscape and square videos as well as vertical ones, and a word too long for its line breaks with a hyphen. Swipe up on the video to watch it full screen.

New: twelve ready-made caption looks. Tap one to try it on your video, then open Customize to change the font, weight, capitals, outline, colors, motion and position. Save the result as your own look, or make it the default for new videos. New: Highlight lights up each word as it's spoken, in the preview and in the exported video. The preview is now drawn by the same renderer as the export, so you see your captions the way the finished video will show them. Fixed: some videos recorded on iPhone no longer export with the sound playing twice.

Smoother styling: the row of style options now stays where you scrolled it. Closing a picker no longer jumps it back to the start.

New: hold the right half of the video to play at 2x. Keep your finger down to skim ahead, in the editor or in full screen, and lift it to return to normal speed. Better captions: a pause of a second or more now starts a new caption, so words spoken far apart no longer pile into one caption that appears before they are said. Also: importing from Files shows progress and can be cancelled, so a large clip from an external drive no longer freezes the app; the caption list follows the timeline as you scrub; and the play button above the keyboard is now a real play/pause.

New: pick a video from the Files app on iPhone. Choose Video now offers Photo Library or Files, so footage from iCloud Drive or another app no longer needs a detour through Photos. And CapiCap is now in the share sheet, so any app that can share a video file can hand it straight over. Requested in a review — thank you. Also: CapiCap now honours Reduce Motion, so the full-screen zoom, the caption list and the transcribing pulse hold still when you have asked them to.

New: CapiCap now runs on iPad. The editor uses the room it gets — in landscape the video stage sits beside the full caption list, in portrait you get a tall list to work through — and it supports Split View, Slide Over and Stage Manager, keyboard shortcuts, trackpad hover, and importing videos from Files or by drag and drop. On a Mac with Apple silicon it runs as a resizable window and uses the most accurate speech model. Also: full-screen playback now opens and closes smoothly while the video is playing, and caption timing is adjusted on the timeline handles, which replace the per-row steppers.

New: select several videos at once — long-press a video on the Home screen and tap Select, then delete them all in one go. New: projects can now name themselves — on devices with Apple Intelligence, CapiCap titles each project from what's said in the video. Transcription is more complete too: passages the speech model occasionally skipped are now caught and re-transcribed. Plus a smoother editor — the video preview glides between inline, keyboard and fullscreen views — and deleting a project no longer shuffles the Home screen.

Caption editor polish. Captions now wrap onto multiple lines while you edit them instead of collapsing into one long scrolling line, the list no longer jumps around when you close the keyboard, and splitting a caption right after editing it keeps your edited text.

CapiCap now speaks 16 languages!
