Built by an academically trained teacher, since 2018: A1–C2 course with every rule explained, citizenship exam simulation, 25+ classic novels, exercises and homework. A complete Italian course from A1 to C2: exercises, grammar explained and twenty-five classics rewritten for your level. I have been teaching Italian to foreigners since 2018, online and in person between Ede and Amsterdam. I hold two master's degrees in teaching Italian to speakers of other languages: the ITALS master at Ca' Foscari in Venice, for Italian taught abroad, and one from Università Giustino Fortunato for Italian as a second language. I trained at a private language school in Amsterdam, and so far I have taught 38 students: a small number, followed closely, some of them from zero to B1. This app came out of what actually works with them, and it comes down to three things. The first thing is that you learn by answering, not by rereading. Every word here arrives inside an exercise, and when you get it wrong I tell you why: one mistake explained teaches more than ten lucky guesses. Gabagool. Mozzarell'. Sfogliatell'. If that's the Italian you grew up with, it was never wrong: it's Neapolitan, Sicilian and Calabrese, worn smooth by a century in America. I show you where those words came from, and build standard Italian around them. The second thing is that you need an order. There's a full course from A1 to C2, built on the official European framework levels: the rule first, then the exercise that uses it, and every two stages you stop and review. You always know where you are. The third is that words have to come back. The ones you get wrong return at growing intervals, just before you'd forget them. Then there are the books. Twenty-five Italian classics rewritten for your level: Pinocchio, Cuore, I promessi sposi, with the dictionary one tap away. Reading is what separates understanding a language from living in it. If you're studying for a B1 level exam, the full practice tests are inside: listening, reading, writing and speaking, with corrections. You can study in fourteen languages, including the ones other apps forget. Every dictionary entry, every exercise and every explanation I wrote myself, one at a time, for my own students. What you find in here is my classroom, opened up. Buon percorso. There is a gift for you in the library: your notebook. • Unwrap it, choose the colour of the binding, and the notebook carries your name. Every day is a new page, and with + you add as many as you like. • What you collect while studying arrives by itself: the sentences you clip from the novels, the words you save, what you write in the stages. And with the pencil you write notes and questions right on the page. • The app now opens completely for ten days, without asking anything: you come in and the whole course is there. • If you already have your exam date you can say so, and the app remembers it: in your plan and in the reminders. • On the Path, at the top, you will find a (?): a small guide explaining what each part of the app is for. • The app always starts now, and when there is no connection it tells you instead of spinning. Locks explain how they open, and errors say what to do. • Certificates carry the date you passed the exam, and your progress also lives in your iCloud: change phone and pick up where you left off. Thank you Mike, Erika and Giulia: many of these things come from your messages. Writing with your own hands is half the studying: the notebook is there for that.
