Plug your volca sample 2 into your Mac over USB: back up and restore every slot and pattern, load and record sounds, and build one-slot SKINNY CHOPs.
Sampultu is a companion app for the KORG volca sample 2: a librarian and workbench for the instrument you already own. Plug it into your Mac with a USB cable and manage its 200 sample slots and 16 patterns: back up, restore, rearrange and refill it, with undo for every change. It talks to the volca over USB-MIDI in both directions — no audio cable — so everything on the device can come back off it.
THE VOLCA'S 200 SLOTS
• Browse every slot as a pad grid or a list, with a live gauge of the device's sample memory.
• Load audio — WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, FLAC, OGG, even the audio from a video — and Sampultu converts it to the volca sample 2's own 31.25 kHz / 16-bit / mono format on import.
• Record from the microphone straight into an empty slot, or add sounds from free drum kits downloaded from their publishers.
• Shape a slot with TRIM, LEVEL, SPEED and HI CUT.
• Rename, swap, duplicate, replace or clear slots, close the gaps with TIDY, and download any slot back to a WAV.
• Audition a pad in the app, on the volca itself, or both. On the volca, Sampultu borrows one reserved part and puts it back, so your other nine parts are never touched.
SNAPSHOTS
• Capture the whole instrument — all 200 samples, all 16 patterns and the pattern on the panel — and restore it later, or export it as a file: Sampultu's own, or a .vlcspllib backup that KORG's volca sample 2 Librarian opens.
• Whenever old and new both fit, a restore writes the new sounds before clearing the old, so an interrupted transfer never leaves the volca empty.
• Have Sampultu offer a snapshot, or take one, whenever a volca connects.
• Import backups and presets saved by KORG's volca sample 2 Librarian, and KORG's free bonus packs, with their samples and sequences intact.
PATTERNS
• Read all 16 patterns; rename, copy, swap or clear them; back them up to files and restore them.
• Edit them from the app: switch steps on and off per part, assign samples to parts, and redraw per-step motion.
• Tap a pattern to load it onto the volca. While the sequencer runs, it changes on the next loop boundary.
• Hear a pattern played in the app from the samples on your volca, locked to the volca's clock when it is running, with a sync offset to line the two up.
BANKS
• A bank is ten parts: a sample for each, plus its level, pan, speed, envelopes, loop, reverse and reverb.
• Capture the volca's current parts as a bank or build one from your slots, then apply it in one go — or arm it to switch on the next loop boundary.
PREPARE SOUNDS FOR THE VOLCA'S SLOTS
• Chop a file, a sample already on the volca, or one from a snapshot — by tempo, by transients, or by hand — and send the slices you pick to free slots.
• SKINNY CHOP, adapted from a volca sample 2 chopping technique: instead of spending sixteen slots on sixteen slices, Sampultu puts one padded loop in a single slot and writes a pattern that replays it from a different START and LENGTH on each step. HEAR PATTERN plays it first; BUILD ON VOLCA puts it on the instrument, and undo takes it back.
• Optionally split a track into drums, bass, vocals and other with on-device AI first, and chop inside one stem. (One-time model download, then fully offline.)
TAKE THE VOLCA'S SOUNDS WITH YOU
• Save the samples on your volca, or the slices you prepared for it, as WAV files, an SFZ preset or a Decent Sampler bundle.
WHAT YOU NEED
• A KORG volca sample 2 on firmware 1.10 or newer, and a USB cable to your Mac. The original volca sample is not supported.
• Sampultu detects whether your volca listens on one MIDI channel or one per part, so auditions and banks reach the right parts.
Sampultu works offline, keeps your files on your device, and collects no personal data — no account, no analytics, no ads.

SKINNY CHOP now builds on the volca: BUILD ON VOLCA puts the loop in one slot and writes a pattern that plays its chops, and undo takes it back. Snapshots export as backups KORG's volca sample 2 Librarian can open. The name now says which instrument Sampultu is for, and the Support tab links help, privacy and KORG's disclaimer.
