When a preset has lost its sample, the health check now says where the file may have gone. If a file with the same name is somewhere else on the card, it is listed under the preset, so you can find it and put it back. A matching name is not proof that it is the same sound, so listen to it first. Nothing is moved for you. The check for samples outside the USER folder never fired on a real card, because the card spells that folder User and the check looked for USER. It now matches either, and it leaves the sampler's own factory folder alone, since that is where it belongs. There is also a new way to reach me. Send Feedback in the Help menu opens an email to support with the app and macOS versions already filled in. The app sends nothing itself. You read the email, change what you like, and send it from your own mail app. The icons now come from macOS itself, so they match the system's text and its weight, and the counts on the Overview are written the way your Mac writes numbers.

You can now select several samples at once in the library and act on all of them together. Two things to do with a selection: trim the silence from the start and end, or normalize the levels. Normalizing brings each sample's loudest moment to the same target. It does that one file at a time, so the balance between your samples is left as you made it, and nothing is compressed, so each sound keeps its shape. The gain that would be applied is shown per file before anything is written, because bringing a quiet recording up brings its hiss up with it, and that is easier to judge before than after. Every one of these operations writes copies to a folder on your Mac and leaves your card untouched. What the app did not say clearly was what to do with those copies, so each now explains it, including which files should not go back: converting or trimming changes how many frames a file has, and a multi-sampled instrument plays ranges measured in frames. Normalizing does not, so those are safe.

When TonVault would not write converted copies to the folder you picked, it told you to choose a folder on your Mac, which was unhelpful if you were already on your Mac. It now says what it actually means. The destination has to be outside the folder being scanned, so that the originals cannot be touched by the thing reading them. Anywhere alongside is fine. The health check is also more honest about multi-sampled instruments that begin with silence. It still tells you which ones start late, because that is worth knowing, but it no longer offers to trim them. Every key zone in those instruments is a fixed position inside one shared audio file, so removing the silence would move every zone along with it. Re-sampling on the device with less lead-in is what actually fixes it, and that is what the finding now says.

Converting a large number of samples no longer looks like the app has frozen. It was never the conversion itself that was slow. TonVault was drawing the entire list of files before it showed you anything, which on a card with several thousand samples meant a long wait with nothing on screen and no way out. It now builds the list as you scroll it, tells you how far along it is, and lets you stop. If you do stop, the files that already finished are complete and stay where they are, and the rest are left untouched. Backups and verification show their progress the same way. Duplicate detection is also considerably faster on cards with many samples of the same size, because it now compares the beginning of a file first and only reads the whole thing when it has to. Thank you to bengersfood on Elektronauts, who ran into the conversion problem on almost five thousand files and described it clearly enough to find all three causes behind it.

Another memory fix, this time in the duplicate check. Comparing files on a card with many samples could hold a whole file in memory at once instead of reading it a small piece at a time, so scanning a large card used far more memory than it needed to. Verifying a backup benefits from the same fix. Thank you again to verdurin on Elektronauts, whose second report pointed at the exact phase where it happened.

Fixes a problem where scanning a card with unusual audio files could use far more memory than it should, in the worst case enough to slow a Mac to a halt. TonVault now checks a file's own header before handing it to the system audio reader, so a file that misreports its length can no longer cause that. Scanning a card with many files also uses noticeably less memory. Thank you to verdurin on Elektronauts for reporting it with the numbers that made it findable.

TonVault can now fix the problem it has always reported. When the health check finds samples that are not at 48 kHz, you can convert them in one step. The converted files are written as new copies in a folder you choose on your Mac, with the bit depth and channels left as they were. The originals on your card are never changed. Before anything is written you see exactly what will happen: each file's current rate, the rate it will end up at, and how its size will change. Samples that belong to a multi-sampled instrument are marked, because those instruments play ranges measured inside the original file and so keep using it.

Duplicate cleanup now understands your presets. When one copy of a duplicate is used by a preset, that is the copy TonVault keeps, so tidying up duplicates can no longer move away a sample something still points at. If more than one copy is in use, the group is left alone and TonVault says why. Samples that belong to a multi-sampled instrument are now marked in the library, including the auto-sampled instruments that store every key zone inside a single file.
