Kito Writer is a focused Markdown editor and reader built for macOS. It works with ordinary .md and .markdown files, so your writing stays portable and under your control.
Write and preview
Choose Editor for focused drafting, Split to see your Markdown and rendered preview together, or Reader for a clean reading view.
Navigate long documents
Use the Outline to see your headings and jump directly to any section without losing your place.
Use familiar Markdown tools
Format headings, bold and italic text, lists, task lists, links, quotes, code, tables, and image references from the format bar or menu.
Work with real files
Create, open, edit, and save standard Markdown documents. Open multiple files in native macOS tabs, use Open Recent, drag files into the app, or reveal a document in Finder.
Add local images
Drag an image into the editor or choose a local file. Kito Writer stores a copy in an .assets folder beside your document and leaves the original unchanged.
Export when you’re ready
Print the Reader view or export it as PDF or plain text without changing your Markdown source.
Made for Mac
Use native menus, keyboard shortcuts, window tabs, light and dark modes, autosave, draft recovery, and conflict handling when a file changes outside the app.
Private by default
No account is required. Kito Writer has no analytics, telemetry, cloud workspace, or document upload. Your documents remain on your Mac unless you choose to open an external link.
