EDDLYNN Exam
Secure Exam Client
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
EDDLYNN Exam is the secure exam client for institutions using the EDDLYNN assessment platform. Students at partner health-science colleges use it to take proctored, timed online examinations set by their faculty.
Key capabilities:
- Client-side AES-256 encrypted question delivery - questions never sit in plaintext outside the exam session
- Real-time proctoring signals (tab-switch, window-blur, resize detection) that faculty can monitor live during a sitting
- Offline-resilient answer autosave so a network blip never loses a response
- Single sign-on with the institution's own account, plus Google sign-in for verified students
EDDLYNN Exam is provisioned by your institution - accounts are created by your faculty or administrator, not by self-signup.
more • If iOS has to close a page to free memory, Exam now lets us know, so we can find and fix the cause. Nothing is sent while an exam is open.
1.0.12 4d ago
• The screen stays on during an exam, so it no longer dims or locks while you read.
• Leaving the app once during a proctored exam is now counted only once.
• Alerts that an exam is opening can now show through Focus.
• A refreshed sign-in screen, lighter tab icons and tidier layouts on iPad.
1.0.11 5d ago
• A refreshed look, with dark mode outside the exam paper.
• Reliability improvements during exams.

Assessment mode
• When an exam asks to lock your iPad in assessment mode, your invigilator can now see whether it is locked. If you choose Don't Allow, the exam monitor shows that your iPad was not locked.
• Where your institution requires assessment mode, the exam opens only after you choose Allow. If you chose Don't Allow, close the exam and open it again to be asked once more.

Raising your hand
• During an exam, a Raise hand button in the header tells your invigilator you need them, without leaving your seat. A message under the header says when your hand is up and when a faculty member has seen it, and you can lower your hand yourself. Your time keeps running.
Handing in your paper
• Before you submit, the app now asks you to tick a few statements: that you have reviewed your answers, that you understand you cannot change them or sit the exam again, and — if any questions are blank — how many you are leaving unanswered. Submit unlocks once every box is ticked, so a paper cannot be handed in by mistake.
• On the last question, the button now reads "Review & submit" and looks different from "Next Question", so a quick double tap no longer lands on it.
• If your time runs out, your paper is still handed in for you, as before.
Notifications
• Exam alerts now reach your iPhone or iPad: when an exam is about to start, when it opens, and when your results are published. The app asks to send them while you are looking at a scheduled exam — never during one.
Signing in
• Signing out of EDDLYNN Exam now signs you out on this device only. Your other devices and other EDDLYNN apps stay signed in.
• If you were signed out somewhere else, the app now asks you to sign in again instead of failing to open your exam. Your answers on this device are kept.
Starting an exam
• If your exam has been moved to another time, the app now shows you the new time when you tap Start.
1.0.8 Oct 7
Handing in your paper
• If handing in stalls on a poor connection, the app now stops waiting after a short time and shows the retry screen. Your answers stay saved on this iPad until the server confirms them.
• While a paper is being handed in, an invigilator can enter your release code on that screen to pause assessment mode, so you can fix your connection.
• Once your paper is handed in, that exam can no longer be opened again by mistake.
• If the app closes before a finished paper reaches the server, it hands the paper in the next time you open it.
• If something goes wrong while handing in, the retry screen now says what happened in plain words, and the app keeps trying on its own.
Starting an exam
• The exam list switches to Start exam by itself when an exam opens, and the app shows that your exam is opening as soon as you tap Begin.
1.0.6 Sep 29
Back to Scholar in one tap
• When your paper is done, open EDDLYNN Scholar straight from the Exam app. If Scholar is not installed it opens in your browser — you are never sent to the App Store.
Signing in
• If your Google account is not on your institution's roster, the app now explains that plainly instead of showing a technical error.
1.0.5 Sep 26
Invigilator release codes
• If an iPad loses its network during an exam in assessment mode, an invigilator can now pause assessment mode with that student's release code, with no network needed, so the student can reconnect. Assessment mode switches back on by itself when they return to the exam.
• An invigilator can also lock a released device again from the exam monitor.
Before you start
• The start screen checks your connection and warns if you are on mobile data or on a different network from the rest of your hall.
Reliability
• Integrity events recorded while you are offline are no longer lost when the connection comes back.
1.0.4 Sep 22
• You can choose to be notified when an exam is scheduled and when it opens.
• A brief loss of network no longer signs you out or asks you to register your device again. If the app cannot reach the server it now says so plainly, keeps you signed in, and offers to try again.
• Submitting while offline is more reliable, and the app tells you what it is doing instead of going quiet.
• The side menu now closes completely in landscape. Previously a narrow strip could stay on screen beside the icon rail on newer iPhones.
• The app version and build number appear beneath Sign out, so you can tell us exactly which version you are looking at when you report something.
1.0.3 Sep 15
This update makes the app steadier when the network drops during an exam.
• If your connection drops while you are handing in, your answers are kept on the device and sent as soon as you are back online. Attempts made while offline no longer use up your retries, and you can try again yourself at any point.
• Losing connection while the device is locked in assessment mode no longer locks you out of the paper.
• The offline notice no longer covers the question you are reading.
• Your invigilator can now end assessment mode on your device remotely, if that is ever needed.
1.0.2 Sep 3
- Assessment mode on iPad and iPhone: exams your institution configures to use it now run with the device locked by iOS for the duration — spell check, predictive text, dictionaries and screenshots are disabled by the system, and the lock ends automatically when you submit.
- Faster exam starts: papers are prepared in advance, so opening one at the bell is near-instant even when a whole class starts together.
- Better iPhone layout: dialogs and controls now respect the Dynamic Island and home indicator, with larger touch targets.
- Fixes, including an answered-question count error after resuming an exam.
1.0.1 Sep 1
• If iOS has to close a page to free memory, Exam now lets us know, so we can find and fix the cause. Nothing is sent while an exam is open.
