Hot Ground layer: Digger members can switch on Hot Ground in the map's Layers menu. It shows our evidence map of the most promising ground, with numbered targets you can tap for the score, what drives it, nearby drilling and old workings. It saves offline with your map areas. Map compass: a heading pill and a facing beam on your location show which way you're pointing. Smarter car voice: CarPlay now waits for phone calls and other audio, and paused podcasts and music resume afterwards. Tracks: a live recording keeps going when you move between screens, there's a new My tracks tab, and Apple Watch GPS is more accurate. Plus fixes and performance improvements.

Bug Fixes and changes to increase usability and accuracy. Dig Tracking stays with you. Start a track, open the map fullscreen, or hop to another screen, and the recording keeps going. Pause and Stop stay on screen, including on the fullscreen map. Back from that map returns you to the tracker with the walk still recording, so you no longer lose a track by leaving the page. Clearer tracks from the Apple Watch. A Dig Track recorded on the watch now follows the ground much more closely, with a point about every metre instead of a rough line that cut the corners. The first time you record one, the watch asks for Health access so it can keep the GPS at full accuracy while you walk. That session is thrown away when you stop, and it is not saved to Fitness.

Apple Watch app DigHere now runs on your wrist. Drop a pin, record a Get Me Back trail, start a named Dig Track, and follow a compass to any pin. It all syncs back to your phone and account. Get Me Back DigHere records your track on the way in and guides you back to the start when you leave, with a compass and a line on the map. It works offline and keeps recording with the screen locked, with a spoken distance callout every kilometre. Get Me Back on CarPlay The same thing while driving. Cache the drive in and navigate back out even without signal, with the trail on the car screen and spoken distance to go. Clearer pins Pins now show their type on the map, so gold, water, camp, access and hazard are easy to tell apart, on the phone and on CarPlay. Fixes - Fixed a CarPlay crash when diverting to a nearby pin during navigation. - Fixed a CarPlay crash from an uncaught error during navigation. - Fixed the map looking stretched on some phones. - Fixed the add pin and locate buttons not responding. - Fixed your own pins not always showing on the map. - Smoother terrain layers when zooming, with fewer dropped tiles. - Stability and reliability improvements.

This update fixes a bug that stopped the app from opening on some iPhones and iPads, mainly those running iOS 16 and 17. If you tapped the icon and it closed straight away, this sorts it. Thanks to everyone who flagged it.
