Camstead 1.2.1 refines 1.2.0. A camera phone's honest recording state needs 1.2.1 on both the camera phone and the device you watch with. New • Settings now lists the clips a device kept from when it was a camera. Play, share or delete them there. • Sign out of vendor cloud accounts in Settings. Nest access is revoked on Nest's side; for the other vendors, Camstead forgets the sign-in on this device. • Arabic and Hebrew now lay out the whole app right to left. Fixed • The MOTION badge and the frame rate are now readable in small camera tiles. • A camera phone no longer looks like it is recording when it is not, for example when its battery is low or a clip was deleted. • Events and clips are numbered more reliably. Also • Camera, microphone and local network permission prompts are now translated. • The privacy wording in Settings and Add Camera is more accurate.

A camera phone can now detect motion and save clips. Motion and Auto-record need Camstead 1.2.0 on both the camera phone and the device you watch with. New • Motion: switch it on in the camera phone's settings, or in its live view on the device you watch with. The camera phone checks its own picture, so it works even when no viewer is connected. • Auto-record: when motion starts, the camera phone saves a clip that begins 3 to 5 seconds earlier. Clips stay on the camera phone, in files of up to 2 minutes, and the oldest are deleted once they total 1 GB. Recording stops while the phone has less than 1 GB free. Play, share or delete them under Clips in the camera phone's settings. • Events from a camera phone appear in the Events tab, marked "Recorded on camera" when a clip was saved. Turn on "Name what moved" and each one also says whether it saw a person, an animal or a vehicle, worked out on the camera phone. Up to 16 events from while you were away are added the next time you open that camera. • Camstead does not send notifications. A camera phone's events are collected only while its camera is on screen in the app. • Low light now gathers more light in dim rooms: the camera phone may lengthen each frame's exposure, so the frame rate can drop to 10 fps. It brightens a dim room; it cannot see in the dark. Fixed • A camera phone's microphone could stay silent after a phone call, Siri or connecting a Bluetooth headset. It now restarts by itself, and the live view shows "Audio paused" until it does. Also • iPhone Duo: the camera grid keeps clear of the system's vertical bars and the fold, and the camera screen no longer puts buttons across the fold. • Demo cameras show realistic pictures instead of drawings, and now detect motion, so you can try detection and auto-record without any camera.

We have a new name: Camstead. New in this version: • Use a spare iPhone or iPad as a camera and pair it by scanning a QR code, or by entering its address and PIN. • Control a camera phone from the viewer: flip the camera, light, low light, siren, screen off and zoom, and see its battery level. • Rotate the picture, pinch to zoom and pan, and watch in landscape. • Clear messages when a camera can't be reached, with automatic retry. • A recording timer, snapshot confirmations and Picture in Picture fixes. • Demo mode no longer affects your own cameras. • A keyboard toolbar on every form, and confirmations before removing a camera.

Camera role: turn a spare iPhone or iPad into a camera and watch it from your other devices over your own Wi-Fi. Pairing finds it automatically, with a PIN. • PTZ presets — tap to recall a position, hold to save one • Cameras that report motion themselves now add events to the timeline • Dahua, Amcrest and Lorex support over their local HTTP API • Hikvision, Annke, LaView and other NVMS7000 devices over ISAPI Camera role works on your local network. iOS stops the camera when the app leaves the screen, so keep that device plugged in and on.
