iPhone
Squid Budget is the private, no-fuss way to understand your money. Everything stays on your iPhone — no account to create, nothing sent to the cloud.
Import your bank statements, sort each transaction in a single tap, and instantly see where your money goes.
IMPORT IN SECONDS
• Bring in your transactions from your bank's CSV export — major UK and European banks supported.
• Smart duplicate detection lets you re-import safely, without doubling up.
SORT IN A TAP
• A clean, one-at-a-time view shows each transaction with your categories right below. One tap files it.
• Fully deterministic: set a rule once (merchant → category) and it applies automatically from then on. No unpredictable "smart" guessing.
SEE THE BIG PICTURE
• Income, expenses and balance at a glance, month by month.
• Clear charts and a category breakdown, so nothing is a surprise.
BUDGETS THAT FIT YOUR LIFE
• Set weekly or monthly budgets per category.
• Visual gauges show what's left, plus your biggest expenses and how this month compares to your usual.
MORE WHEN YOU NEED IT
• Track investments properly — buying isn't counted as spending, and only real gains affect your balance.
• Group spending across categories with tags (a holiday, a project…).
• Keep work expenses separate, add transactions manually, and attach a receipt photo.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Your financial data never leaves your device. No sign-up, no ads, no tracking.
ONE-TIME PURCHASE
• The core app is yours to use. A single in-app purchase unlocks the advanced tools (investments, tags, work expenses) — no subscription, ever.
WORKS THE WAY YOU DO
• Pounds, euros, dollars and more. Available in English and French.
Take back control of your budget — simply and privately.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
This version lifts the main limitation of the import feature: support for PDF statements.
A PDF statement can now be imported directly, with no prior CSV export. The conversion is performed on the device, and the result is presented for review before anything is saved. When the statement includes a balance column, each transaction is cross-checked against it, so the amount and its direction are confirmed rather than inferred. If a layout is not recognised, an anonymised report can be sent to the developer; it describes the column structure without containing any amounts or merchant names.
The application is now available in seven languages: French, English, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch.
Configuring a joint account is no longer limited to the moment it is created: enabling the "expenses ÷ 2" option recalculates the transactions already recorded. The share to be counted, 100% or 50%, can also be selected for each import.
Category management has been extended. A category can be emptied in a single operation, with its entries transferred to another category or returned to "To sort", and the associated rules and budgets following automatically. A "+" button on each group creates a category directly within it, and group names, colours and order are now configured from the Categories screen. Within a group made up of income categories, any new category is proposed as income, with a warning should a different type be selected.
Several improvements support everyday use. A statement description that is difficult to identify can be looked up on the web in a single step; the application issues no request of its own and simply opens the browser. A "Help and contact" section has been added to the settings. Finally, a greater number of banks are recognised without configuration, including Monzo and Nationwide.
This version also corrects three defects: the screen shown when a PDF is not recognised failed to appear, two messages on the import screen remained in French in the English version, and the version number shown in the settings remained fixed at 1.0.
In line with the original commitment, data remains on the device and is not transmitted to any server.
