What you can't read, and what you can't catch — translated on the spot, in 60 languages.
Miruyaku translates the foreign language around you: the audio of a video, a game or comic on screen, a sign on a trip, the person in front of you.
■ New in 1.8.0: Translate Browser
- Open a site, a video or a live stream in the built-in browser: pages are translated, and subtitles appear as people speak
- Read aloud: translated subtitles spoken in time with the video
- Transcript: tap a line to jump there, search, or export
- Translation, original, or both. Text inside the picture can be translated in place
- Tabs, private tabs, history, favorites, Share from other apps, and a Home Screen widget
- Saved videos too: full screen, read aloud, or save a copy with subtitles
Copy-protected videos and some players can't be subtitled this way; Live Translation still works for those. Needs iOS 26 or later.
■ Video audio into subtitles
Miruyaku listens to the video or app playing on your iPhone and shows the translation in a thin floating window. Switch between device audio and the microphone. Lines break where the speaker pauses, so a sentence never swaps out halfway.
■ Text on screen
Game dialogue, Webtoon speech bubbles, overseas articles. Keep scrolling, keep playing — translations keep flowing, each with a snippet of the original so you know which line it is. Pause any time.
■ Point the camera
Hold it up to a sign, a menu or a label. The translation lands on top of each original line, so lists like menus stay readable. Tap to focus on small print.
■ Conversation
Sit across the screen and speak your own languages; translations are read aloud. Back-and-Forth listens for both languages at once, so nobody presses a button before speaking. Or take turns, and check what was heard before sending.
■ Photos
Pick a screenshot and the translation is laid over the original text, or read long articles paragraph by paragraph. Works from the share sheet and shortcuts such as a double back tap. Every translation is kept in History.
■ Choose how to translate
- Standard: Apple's on-device translation. Fast and private
- Apple Intelligence on supported iPhones
- On-device AI (download)
- High-accuracy mode (optional): bring your own API key for DeepL, Google, OpenAI, Gemini or Claude. Your key is stored only in this iPhone's Keychain
Settings explain the strengths and cautions of each. AI engines take longer than standard translation.
■ Privacy
- Standard translation, downloaded languages and the on-device AI run entirely on your iPhone. Screen contents and audio are never sent to the developer's servers
- Only in high-accuracy mode is text sent directly to the service you chose
- Nothing is recorded. History stays on this iPhone
- We may ask permission to track for advertising. Every feature works either way
■ Languages you can translate into (60)
Japanese, English, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Korean, Hindi, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Thai, Vietnamese, Arabic, Indonesian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish and 40 more (the full list is in the app)
Languages Apple's translation doesn't cover are downloaded the first time you choose them.
■ Ad-Free (optional subscription)
Every translation feature works without a subscription. Ad-Free removes the banner and full-screen ads. It is a monthly auto-renewing subscription; cancel any time in your App Store account settings.

■ Requirements
iOS 18.0 or later. Subtitles on video, video audio translation, conversation and the on-device AI need iOS 26 or later. Listening works in the languages your iPhone's speech recognition supports. Hindi, Greek, Hebrew and some others can be translated into but not yet read from images.
Live Translation subtitle improvements
- Subtitles appear sooner and no longer seem to stall
- Choose the "Video language" on the start screen; Auto-Detect compares languages and switches automatically
- Subtitles now appear for more languages, such as Russian and Vietnamese
- Language pairs that can't be recognized or translated are flagged before you start
- You can switch back to "Accuracy-first" under "Subtitle Mode" in Settings
