Photo Saver copies the original files out of your photo library — including the ones that live in iCloud — to a server, NAS or drive that you control. Not a re-encode and not a downscaled copy: the actual file your camera wrote. WHY PHOTO SAVER • True originals — RAW files, unmodified video, both halves of a Live Photo, and your edited versions alongside them. • Your own storage — an SMB share on a NAS, your own SFTP server, S3-compatible object storage, WebDAV, or any folder or external drive. • Resumable — every file's progress is checkpointed, so an interrupted 400 GB backup carries on from where it stopped instead of starting over. • Nothing sent twice — the destination is asked what it already holds before anything is uploaded, so a re-run costs minutes rather than days. • Unattended — it watches your library and backs up new photos as they arrive, then stays out of the way in the menu bar. BUILT FOR LARGE LIBRARIES Tens of thousands of files and hundreds of gigabytes are the ordinary case here, not the edge case. Transfers run several at a time, staged originals are cleaned up as they go, and a stalled download or a share that drops off the network is retried on a growing backoff rather than left to hang. When iCloud starts rate-limiting downloads — which it will, on a large library — Photo Saver recognises it, waits it out, and carries on rather than hammering away or quietly stopping. PLAIN FILES, NO LOCK-IN Photos are filed by year and month, by album, by media type, or by a folder template of your own, under their original names. There is no database and no proprietary container: what lands on your server is a folder of photos you can browse, copy or open on any machine, with or without this app. If you stop using Photo Saver tomorrow, your backup still works. NOTHING GOES ANYWHERE ELSE Photo Saver has no account, no analytics, and no server of its own. Your photos go from your Mac to the destination you configured and nowhere else. Server credentials are kept in the macOS Keychain. ABOUT NETWORK SHARES This is the App Store build, so it runs inside Apple's sandbox: mount your SMB or network share in Finder first, then pick it as the backup folder. Everything else — SFTP, S3, WebDAV, local and external drives — is configured entirely within the app.
