PhotoViewer is a RAW browser and culling tool for macOS. Open a folder and the photos are there. There is no import step and no catalog database to keep in sync, and your files stay where you put them.
CULLING
Rate from 0 to 5, assign Photo Mechanic-style color classes, and tag the keepers with one keystroke. Ratings and labels go into XMP sidecars, so Lightroom, Bridge and Photo Mechanic read them too.
RAW PREVIEWS
Embedded JPEG previews appear immediately. Full decodes run in the background and are cached on disk. You choose the decode quality that suits your machine, embedded, half or full, and set the cache limit yourself.
THE PREVIEW WINDOW
A filmstrip, an RGB histogram, and overlays for blown highlights and lost shadows. The inspector has the EXIF and IPTC fields: camera, lens, exposure, focal length, white balance, color profile and the rest.
EVERYDAY FILE WORK
- Ingest from a card, with dated subfolders, renaming and eject when it finishes
- Batch rename with pattern tokens
- Apply IPTC creator and copyright across a selection
- RAW and JPEG pairs are handled as one item, so they travel together
- Move to Trash with undo, plus duplicate, paste and copy to another folder
- Slideshow, and open in the editor of your choice
THEMES, LANGUAGES, PRIVACY
Dark and light themes. English, Russian and Spanish. Shortcuts are bound to physical keys, so they work in any keyboard layout. The app is sandboxed and reaches only the folders you give it. It collects nothing and never goes online.

Fixed portrait photos appearing sideways when a RAW is paired with a developed JPEG. Updated thumbnails when the JPEG is re-exported. Fixed crashes during app launch and photo-preview loading on macOS 27.
