Edit Roland FA Studio Sets on iPad over USB MIDI. Mix 16 parts, shape tones and effects, then push Temporary data back to the keyboard. Edit your Roland FA visually from an iPad. FA Editor is the librarian for Roland FA-06, FA-07, and FA-08 synthesizers. Use a touch workspace to browse tones, mix all 16 parts, shape effects, and manage a local Studio Set library, then send Temporary edits back to the keyboard over USB MIDI. The iPad layout is the one we designed this version around. iPhone can run the same app for testing, but dense editors are easier on a tablet. CONNECT WITH GENERIC MIDI On the FA, open System → USB Driver and set it to GENERIC (MIDI only), not Vendor. Write/save that setting and restart the keyboard so it applies. Vendor mode is for the Mac app with MIDI+Audio; iOS needs GENERIC MIDI. Then connect USB and tap Connect in the app. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Pull the current Temporary Studio Set from the FA • Browse and assign tones across 16 parts • Mix volume, pan, mute, solo, MIDI channel, and key/velocity ranges • Edit oscillators, filters, amplifiers, envelopes, and per-part MFX • Edit chorus, reverb, TFX, Audio FX, and related routing • Keep a local library of Studio Sets on the device • Push Temporary edits back to the keyboard TYPICAL WORKFLOW 1. Set USB Driver to GENERIC, save, and restart the FA 2. Connect USB and open FA Editor 3. Connect, then pull the current Studio Set 4. Edit parts, tones, mixer, and effects 5. Save a local copy if you want a backup 6. Push Temporary data to the FA 7. Use Write on the workstation to store a User Studio Set permanently LOCK AND RECONNECT iOS suspends USB MIDI when the device sleeps. Unlock the iPad and the app retries MIDI for a few seconds. Use Disconnect in the menu if you do not want that. COMPATIBILITY • Roland FA-06, FA-07, and FA-08 • USB MIDI with GENERIC driver mode • Some operations depend on the tone engine of the connected model Editing happens in Temporary memory on the FA.
