How long can you keep driving today? When is your break due and what does tonight's rest have to be? TachoClear answers, and shows you the rule that says so.
Built for UK goods-vehicle drivers under the assimilated (EU-derived) drivers' hours rules and the Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations 2005, with GB domestic and PSV night-work settings included. Made for the people with no transport manager watching their back, agency drivers and new passes especially.
WHAT IT DOES
• Live shift tracking — one tap to switch between driving, other work, POA, break and rest
• Drive Detection — optional automatic driving/work switching while the app is open. High-confidence motion activity is required; location can corroborate movement. It is off by default, and anything it gets wrong is corrected in two taps
• Break countdowns — the 4.5-hour driving clock and the separate working-time break rules, both tracked, clearly labelled
• Split breaks done right — 15 then 30, and it tells you when a split won't qualify
• Daily rest options — 11h, reduced 9h (max 3 between weekly rests — your budget shown) or 3+9 split, each with its consequences
• Weekly rest — the six-day deadline, reduced rest, and a compensation ledger with the payback deadline
• Working Time — the 60-hour week cap, your average against the 48-hour limit, night-work rules, POA correctly excluded
• EU-style forward planner — "if I start at 06:00…" gives latest break, latest finish, earliest next start
• Next available start time — shown after every shift
• Lock Screen countdown — your next deadline on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, no unlocking needed
• Break-complete alert — take your 45, and the app tells you when it counts
• Fix anything — every entry can be edited, split or corrected, with undo
• Plain-English rules library — split breaks, POA vs break, multi-manning, ferry rules, mixed GB days and more, offline, with sources and worked examples
• PDF and CSV export of your log — included, not an add-on
BOUGHT ONCE, YOURS FOREVER
No subscription. No ads. No account. Your record stays on your iPhone. Apple may include app data in encrypted iCloud or computer backups when enabled, but TachoClear has not verified a cross-device restore; export PDF or CSV before replacing the phone. TachoClear collects no data and works fully offline.
