Paranoia gives you a Paranoia Rating for the companies and apps you already use - a 0-100 number, higher meaning more private, produced by a published, weighted rubric you can read in full inside the app.
Every rating is our editorial opinion, not a legal or regulatory finding. Every claim behind a rating links to a primary source, and every ownership chain is free to open, on every file.
Look up a company or app to see:
- Its full file: how it collects, shares, and secures your data
- Every claim, sourced and linked - free
- Who owns it: the ultimate parent and every subsidiary on file - free
- A 0-100 Paranoia Rating, letter grade, and the five pillar ratings behind it - free
- Why it's rated that way, in writing, for every pillar - free
- Recommended alternatives, where they exist, with Paranoia Plus
Also in the app: CITY, a full map of ALPR cameras and city surveillance programs near you. A free FOR YOU carousel on Home surfaces companies tied to what you already watch, alongside a Recently Added rail of the newest files. Every card opens the file behind it. What you see is the same catalog everyone sees; nothing is personalized to you.
Open privacy and data class action settlements show on Home and in a full list: the 10 closing soonest are free for everyone, and every open settlement is available with Paranoia Plus. Each shows who may be eligible, the claim deadline, a link to the official claim site, and the source behind every case.
Browse instantly, even offline. Paranoia ships with a bundled data snapshot and syncs updates quietly in the background. Watch companies to track them and share a company's file card with anyone.
Paranoia Plus is an optional auto-renewable subscription, available annually or monthly. It unlocks best-for-you picks from the privacy lens you set during onboarding, recommended alternatives on every company page, every open settlement, settlement alerts for companies you watch, and unlimited alerts - everyone gets 3 alert slots for free, and Plus removes that cap. The Top Rated category lists (every category ranked from the highest Paranoia Rating down) are free for everyone. Payment is charged to your Apple ID; the subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and can be managed in your Apple ID subscription settings.
Data comes from public and licensed sources - companies' own policies and disclosures, App Store privacy labels, ToS;DR (CC BY-SA), PrivacySpy (CC BY), Privacy Guides (www.privacyguides.org, CC BY-SA), Wikidata (CC0), SEC and FTC filings, state regulator records, Have I Been Pwned, and self-run Blacklight scans. Never a purchased dataset.
You can use Paranoia without signing in: browse, search, open every file, watch companies and turn on alerts right away. Sign in with Apple, Google, or a passwordless email link any time to sync your watchlist and alert picks across devices and keep Paranoia Plus with your account. There are still no ads and no purchased datasets. Ad measurement and product analytics are optional; switch them off any time in Profile. Watching a company or official stores a push token and the entities you watch on our server once notifications are enabled, not linked to your identity unless you sign in.. Entries saved before this update, or left listed after a lapsed Plus subscription trimmed your watches back to three, stay device-local until you tap the eye to watch them fully. Subscriptions are processed by Apple; purchase data is handled as described in our App Privacy answers and privacy policy.

I am a young teen, and I really want to protect my information online. But like every app you have to pay. There is nothing wrong with an app that you have to pay and they did change stuff to make it more free. But as a young teen i don’t have much and just want to keep myself safe online. I wish it became cheaper.
Outstanding app !

Great job to the team behind this app. Definitely a much needed tool in today’s society. Now I can stay in the know of everything I personally use and provide my data to and choose if thy are actually right for me with out having to read a 30 page privacy policy somewhere on the site before doing so. Thanks guys for making this 🙏

Waaay too many subscription walls

The only reason I use this app is to see the score of a company I’m interested in AND their ultimate parent. That’s it. The newest update made everything and I mean EVERYTHING paywalled(other than scores). Bro at least leave some crumbs for free users or make this a payed app atp. I lost half the reason to have this on my phone and guess what it’s no longer on it.Also the update added the necessity of signing in to use? I understand it’s to block bots and attacks but still very, very ironicOtherwise I like the idea of adding privacy scores as a standalone app. It’s been implemented many times on the web but having it on home screen it makes it convenient. The name is pretty cool but the logo is hot cheeks, straight buns. Holy😭. Just make the loading screen the app icon and it would be a trillion times better.
Developer Response
Thank you for writing this, honestly. "Score plus ultimate parent" is exactly the use case we built the app around, and hearing that the 3.1 update took half of that away from you is the most useful feedback we've gotten. Some context: Paranoia is a small team and is self-funded. Every score has hand-verified receipts behind it, the catalog syncs from a live database, and the alerts run on paid services. Paranoia Plus is the only thing that pays for that, and we genuinely need it in order to work. Sign-in landed for the same reason: to keep the sync and alerts from being abused. We know how ironic that reads in a privacy app. The logo feedback is noted too, and we laughed. We'd love to have you back on the Paranoia Plus side and hear what you actually think of it. Email us at hello@checkparanoia.com, mention this review, and we'll set you up. No strings. If it changes how you feel about the app, you're welcome to revisit this review, but that's entirely your call.Sincerely, The Paranoia Team
Great concept but…

When I click unlock my matches it just restarts the whole process again, real confused it just seems like it’s stuck in a loop
Developer Response
Sorry about that loop, and thanks for reporting it. It was a bug that sent some people back to the start of setup, and it's been fixed. Please update to the latest version and give us another try. Email us at hello@checkparanoia.com and we'll send you a promo code for Paranoia Plus.
A short tour after setup shows where breaches, settlements and alerts live. Replay it any time from Profile > TAKE THE TOUR.
The breach card on Home now has CHECK YOUR EMAIL right next to SEE WHO.
Better options on company pages are now labeled ALTERNATIVES.
A refreshed tab bar.
