Pips & Lies: Liar's Dice
Bluffing & Social Deduction
Only for iPhone
Free
A new live event is coming to the saloon: THE HOUSE, with one house rule, its own table and prizes. Ranked liar's dice with seasons and live events. FRESH MEAT to LEGEND.
Liar's dice, played for rank. Three ranked queues, an Elo rating on every ladder, seasons with podiums, live events with rules of their own, and a record of every bid you make. Plus Pips & Treason, a social deduction game of promises and traitors.
RANKED
Wild Ones, Straight Ones and the 1v1 Duel each have their own queue, ladder and rating, because they are different games. Overall adds wild and straight together and decides the season podium. Everyone starts at 1000. Your first fifteen matches are provisional; after that, a rating has to be earned. Climb six tiers from FRESH MEAT to LEGEND and see where you stand among every ranked player. Walk out of a ranked match and you finish last.
SEASONS AND LIVE EVENTS
Every season opens a fresh ladder at 1000, on top of a career rating that never resets. Play ten matches to place. The top three on Overall and in the 1v1 take prizes that are never sold. Live events bend the rules for a limited time, each with a twist of its own, plus its own rating, standings and prizes.
EVERY BID ON RECORD
Statistics track how often your bids hold when someone calls them, how many of your calls land, and how you bid on every face from one to six, kept apart for wild and straight ones. Eight achievements climb from bronze to diamond; six more are legendary.
WEAR WHAT YOU WON
Over 120 cups, dice, avatars, banners, nameplates and emojis. The rarest are never for sale: they come from podiums, ratings, events and trophies, and arrive sealed until you open them.
FAIR TABLES
Bots only fill chairs at private tables, and private tables never move rating, trophies or stats. Wild and straight players are never mixed, one account holds one place in line, and a blocked player is never seated with you again.
HOW LIAR'S DICE PLAYS
Everyone rolls behind their own cup. Bid on what the whole table is hiding, raise the bid before you, or call LIAR and make somebody prove it. Lose the challenge and lose a die. The last cup standing wins. Two to six players. The table is drawn in perspective, and matches open with every player lit up in turn when everyone has this version. Open a private table with a link or a four-letter code and fill empty chairs with bots on Easy, Normal or Hard. A short tutorial walks you through bidding, calling LIAR and the reveal.
PIPS & TREASON
Six to ten players, and two to four of them are traitors who know each other from the first deal. Each operation has a leader, who picks a team and promises out loud which die every member will spend. The table votes on the promise, and the dice must hit the target exactly. Every die you spend is gone for the rest of the match. Call LIAR on a contributor and only you learn what they played. One loyal player, THE AUDITOR, knows every traitor - say too much, and the traitors' hunter names you and takes the match.
The traitors have a channel of their own. Public tables seat you as soon as six are waiting, and public matches build a career of their own. Private tables take a code or a link, and bots can fill every chair your friends don't. A practice table seats you in a match already under way.
FRIENDS AND LEAGUES
Add friends by username, by link or from the table, see who is here right now, and see their ratings and public record. Get a notification when someone sends you a friend request or a league invite, if you want one. Friends can start a private Pips & Treason league that keeps score across nights: a point for every win, a point off for every loss. Only members see it.
PRIVACY AND SAFETY
No advertising. No gambling: nothing is wagered, and nothing you win can be exchanged for money. No third-party analytics or tracking. Notifications only if you allow them. An account is optional and adds cross-device progress, leaderboards, friends and leagues; a guest profile is created on first launch. Chat is limited to the room you are sitting in, and any player can be reported or blocked.
more THE HOUSE
A new live event is coming to the saloon. It has its own table, its own rating and standings, and prizes that are never sold. The man behind the table has one rule, and it is revealed when the table opens. A card at the top of Liar's Dice shows it while the event runs. You need this version to join it.
SEVEN PRIZES THAT ARE NEVER SOLD
The top three take The House, The Watch and The Croupier. Play 10, 25, 50 and 75 matches and keep Brass Pips, Brass Rail, The Ticker and The Auditor, however you rank.
NAMEPLATES
A new thing to wear: the plate over your name at the table. Choose it in the Loadout under NAMEPLATES. Everyone at the table sees it.
FIXES
You can bid on any face again. On the new table you could only pick a face you held, so the face in your bid now sits between two arrows, ‹ and ›. On the landscape table, LEAVE is now just the exit icon, and it and ROUND sit closer to the left edge so they no longer cover a neighbour's name plate. There is more air between the bid history and your bid bar. The coach card and achievement unlocks wait until the showdown is over.
1.10.0 Oct 10
THE NEW TABLE
Liar's Dice has a new table, drawn in perspective and played in landscape. Every player is there as their own avatar: you in the corner, your opponents in their chairs behind the table, each with a name plate that carries their rating and streak. The dice are now physical objects on the table: yours lie in front of you as solid cubes, and every cup stands on the felt over its owner's dice, in the cup they have equipped. Tap your dice to bid. Emojis pop up over the head of whoever sent them.
THE SHOWDOWN IS ON THE TABLE
When someone calls LIAR!, the cups lift one at a time, right where they stand. The dice that count light up, and ones glow when they are wild. The count appears under the bid, and the verdict stands large with who loses a die, or is out, and ONE AWAY or ON THE NUMBER when it was close. It takes a little longer than before, so you can read every hand.
A MATCH THAT OPENS WITH YOU
The screen goes dark and every player is lit up in turn, with their avatar, name and rating on the ladder the match is played on, before the table turns and comes in. It plays when everyone at the table has this version.
FIGURES WITH BODIES
Every avatar is now drawn with a small body, so the figure in your menus is the one sitting in the chair. That includes the seven avatars that were a plain symbol, and the premium ones, redrawn in the same style. In the Loadout, the shop and the prize lists, dice are cubes you can see from three sides, and cups stand with the opening down, as they do on the table.
NOTIFICATIONS
Get a notification when a friend sends you a request, accepts yours, or invites you to a league, even when the app is closed. iPhone asks the first time you open FRIENDS. At the bottom of your friends list, one switch keeps friend and league alerts and another turns on news from Pips & Lies, which stays off until you do.
THE HOUSE OPENS ON OCTOBER 9
Someone has been watching the table. The next event opens on October 9, and the first time you open Liar's Dice a card tells you so. The strip on the front page now carries the line too.
FIXES
On iPhone, ROUND 1 was cut off at the top, the button text on the tutorial cards could run out of the button, the tutorial's feedback card came before you could read the opponent's dice, and the table no longer flashes upright for a second when the screen turns. The coach card and achievement unlocks now wait until the showdown is over instead of giving away the result, and cups no longer reappear from above on later LIAR! calls.
ALSO
Emotes are now called emojis. The new table draws no mats and has its own table skins, so the Tables and Mats slots are resting in the Loadout until they are redrawn; every table shows the standard one for now.
1.9.0 Oct 6
FRIENDS WHO ARE HERE
Your friends list now shows who is around: a green dot for friends in the menu, gold for friends in the queue or in a match, and those friends at the top. FRIENDS sits in the top bar of both games and shows how many are here. Only accepted friends can see you, and you can switch it off at the bottom of your friends list.
PIPS & TREASON: THE TABLE TELLS THE STORY
The lobby is now the table the match is played at. Chairs fill in around the oval as players sit down, and the file opens where you sit. During the match the table shows the operation itself: a beam from the leader while the team is picked, the contract as a sum in the middle, sealed ballots that turn over to YES or NO, face-down dice in a pot while the team plays, and a felt that darkens with every rejection that counts.
LIAR CALLS STAY ON THE TABLE
Who called LIAR on whom, and who was shown the proof, now stays on the table after an operation. When there are only a few, they are drawn as arrows. With more, the chairs carry the count, and a tap on a chair lights up its accusers, the players it accused and who saw its proof.
THE OPERATIONS THAT DECIDE IT
When an operation can end the match, a banner says who is on match point, and the card shows what each outcome means before the dice are counted. A traitor win on the dice is now counted out before the file opens. When the loyal side reaches three, the hunt gets its own moment: every role is told what it means for them, the clock stands in the middle of the table, and the hunter's guess takes the whole screen before the result.
THE CHAT, REBUILT
The chat is one stream of what was said and what happened: proposals, votes, dice and LIAR calls stand between the messages, under a heading for each operation. Every player is shown by the avatar on their chair. Tap a player at the top to see only what they said, with the rest folded away in place. Scroll up and the chat stays where you are; new messages gather in a button, gold when one names you.
NOTES, MARKS AND THE RECORD
Tap a player for a redrawn notes sheet with their face, your mark and their match so far. The marks depend on your role: a traitor's only guess left is the auditor, and the auditor can mark the one they think is the hunter. The contract shows what you know about the team you vote on. Tap an operation at the top of the screen to open its record, with a tab for every proposal and the votes in two columns.
LESS TO READ AFTER THREE MATCHES
Once you have finished three Pips & Treason matches, the step labels and help lines step aside and the table gets the room. A ? in the top bar brings back the tip for the step you are on. Rejections that count have a counter of their own, a promise of a die already spent is struck through, and READY is a proper button that says who the table is waiting for.
LIAR'S DICE
The reveal now opens over the table instead of replacing it, and at smaller tables it moves on sooner: the cups lift at the same pace, without the wait afterwards. Your profile looks the same inside each game as on the first screen.
ALSO
The leaderboard loads in the background, so it is usually ready before you tap RANKS.
1.8.0 Sep 30
COMPLETELY REDESIGNED
Pips & Lies has been redrawn from the first screen to the final reveal. Pick your game from two cards: Liar's Dice at your own table, with your cup and dice, and Pips & Treason as a case file. Your profile and account open as a sheet from the first screen.
BUILT FOR RANKED
Choose Wild Ones, Straight Ones or 1v1 and tap FIND A TABLE - the app remembers your ladder. The season, the live event and your gear sit right below. The queue has a screen of its own, where the chairs fill one by one and you see the rating at stake and what the match means for your season. After a ranked match your rating counts up to its new value.
PODIUMS, POSTERS AND STATS
The leaderboard puts the top three on a podium and keeps your own row at the bottom. Live events get a poster, a countdown and standings of their own. Statistics are rebuilt: who you are across all time, and how you play in each ruleset. The trophy room shows what you are closest to next.
PRIZES YOU OPEN YOURSELF
Season places, event milestones and rating and trophy rewards now arrive sealed. Open the envelope when you are ready - what is inside was decided before you opened it. A new trophy shows as a strip during a match and gets its full moment when the match is over.
WHILE YOU WERE AWAY
Come back after a while and a telegram tells you what moved: your place in the event and the season, results that were settled, and friends who passed you on the ladder. In Pips & Treason, a dossier tells you what your league did without you.
A NEW LIAR'S DICE TABLE
Every player sits on their own mat with their avatar, cup and dice. The bid names who made it, your hand says what you hold in words, and the clock drains on your turn. Private lobbies seat everyone around the table, with a bot one tap away in any empty chair, and the winner stands at the table on the final screen.
FRIENDS
Your username is your friend code. Search for someone, share your link, or add the people you just played with from the lobby - they become friends once they accept. Tap a friend to see their rating on every Liar's Dice ladder and their public Pips & Treason record.
PRIVATE LEAGUES IN PIPS & TREASON
Start a league and invite your friends. At a private table, the host picks the league in the lobby, and every match with at least three members at the table counts: a point when your side wins, a point off when it loses. Only members see it, and a league never touches rating, trophies or your career.
PIPS & TREASON, REDRAWN
Seats around an oval table, votes that turn over as paper ballots, roles in sealed files and every result on a case-file card. The table marks the operation that decides the match. When it is over, the file opens: your role, the five operations, the moment it turned, and the whole table unmasked one role at a time. The practice now seats you in a match already under way and plays it to the end.
ALSO
Table and friend links open the app directly. Signing out no longer leaves your gear with the next player. Large titles are no longer clipped at the top, and Friends waits for the connection instead of saying you are offline.

SEE WHERE YOU STAND
The three ladders were always separate — Wild Ones, Straight Ones and 1v1 were never the same game. Now each one shows you its own rating, and your place among everyone who has played it. Bots are not counted.
A HOME SCREEN THAT RANKS
Ranked matchmaking and the season are at the top now, with both ladders and your standing side by side. The season says what it needs from you: how many matches until you qualify, and what the next milestone is.
PIPS & TREASON: A CAREER OF ITS OWN
Statistics that belong to Treason alone. Each role separately, the promises you kept and the ones you broke, your accuracy when you call LIAR, and how the table voted on you. Only public matches count.
KNOW WHO LEADS NEXT
Every seat shows how many operations until it leads — NEXT, then +2, +3. Voting a team down is not free when you can see who picks the next one.
GAME NIGHT
A private Treason table now keeps score across matches. One point every time your side wins, traitor or loyal, so an evening of separate matches becomes one contest with a winner.
A CHAT YOU CAN FIND THINGS IN
Messages in Pips & Treason carry the time they were sent, and the chat divides itself by operation - so you can find what somebody promised three operations ago. The record of a LIAR call now names who was shown the proof, too.
ALSO
Your avatar comes with you into Pips & Treason now, so a table of ten is easier to read. And the end screen says why the match ended — the operation, whether it was secured or betrayed, and the final score — instead of jumping straight to the result.
1.6.0 Sep 24
LEARN LIAR'S DICE IN TWO MINUTES
A new tutorial seats you at the real table against Vesper. Make your own bids, read the bid history, call LIAR and watch the reveal count every die. Part 1 teaches the table with Straight Ones; Part 2 shows how Wild Ones change every count.
LIAR'S DICE WITH BOTS
Practice against bots at a private table. Fill the table or seat up to six, choose Easy, Normal or Hard, and a friend who joins with the code takes a bot's chair. Bot tables never count for rating, trophies or stats.
INVITE WITH A LINK
Share a link instead of reading out a code. Friends who have the game join your table; friends who don't are shown the way to the App Store.
A BETTER PRACTICE TABLE FOR PIPS & TREASON
The practice now explains the goal, the roles and your tools before you sit down, lights up what to tap next, and tells you at the end what your choices actually did.
MORE TIME TO THINK
Every step in Pips & Treason now has at least two minutes, three when the match is on the line, and the hunt for the Auditor has five. Private tables can turn the clock off entirely.
KNOW WHO DID WHAT
Tap a player to see everything they have done this match: teams they led and joined, how they voted, and every LIAR call — including who was shown the proof. Mark players as HUNTER or AUDITOR.
ALSO
How to play is now the Rulebook. Bid history in Liar's Dice is a clear button on the table, and repeated chat messages are blocked.
1.5.0 Sep 17
PIPS & TREASON WITH BOTS
No more waiting for six people. Open a private table, tap FILL WITH BOTS and start a match on your own. A friend who joins with the code takes a bot's chair, and a bot takes over for anyone who leaves mid-match.
Choose Easy, Normal or Hard. The bots play both sides, learn how each player at the table tends to vote, and when you are a traitor, the traitor bots plan the operation with you in your private channel.
Talk to them in sentences they understand: say what you played, accuse someone, back someone up, or tell your team "I will play my 5 instead."
A PRACTICE TABLE
Two scripted operations teach the contract, the vote and the dice before a real table does. New players are pointed to it the first time they open Pips & Treason.
CHECK THE TEAM BEFORE THE VOTE
When a leader proposes a team, every member answers out loud: can they still play the die they were promised? If someone can't, the leader can fix the promises up to twice, or send the team to the vote as it is. The answers can be bluffs.
NOTES ON PLAYERS
Tap a chair to mark a player SUSPECT, SURE TRAITOR or SURE LOYAL, and keep a note on what they did. Only you can see it.
SHARE YOUR MATCH
When a match ends, in either game, share a card of who you were at the table and how it went.
UPRIGHT ON PHONES
Pips & Treason now plays in portrait. Promises are shown as dice, your own name reads YOU, and every LIAR button says what it does.
LIAR'S DICE
The reveal takes the whole screen. The count climbs die by die toward the bid, every hand lights up the dice that counted, and the verdict lands: IT HOLDS, or BUSTED. A run of correct calls is counted and shown to the table. The table itself is less cluttered, and the bid sits clearly on the felt.
1.4.0 Sep 14
PIPS & TREASON — A NEW GAME MODE
Six to ten players. Hidden traitors. Promises made out loud, and dice that run
out.
A leader names a team for each operation and promises which die each member will
spend. The table votes on the contract itself. The operation succeeds only if
the dice add up exactly, and every die spent is gone for the rest of the match —
so the difference between a traitor and an honest player who ran out of numbers
is never obvious.
Call LIAR and the answer is yours alone; you decide what the table hears, and
you may show it to one other player. One loyal player is the auditor and knows
everything, which is why the traitors get one shot at naming them if the loyal
side reaches three. Traitors have their own chat channel. Public tables seat you
with strangers; private tables take a code.
LIAR'S DICE — THE TABLE MOVES NOW
The reveal is staged instead of arriving all at once: a held breath, the
verdict, then hands falling in one at a time with the loser's last.
The standing bid morphs into the next one — the quantity counts up and the die
face flips — rather than being swapped out underneath you.
The player to act has a draining glow ring around their seat, a clock without
numbers that turns red when time is short.
A chip flies from the bidder's seat into the pot on every bid, the losing seat
shakes, the screen edge flashes the verdict, and the winner keeps a slow
spotlight.
Reveal particles finally move like what they are: confetti falls and spins,
sparks throw outward and die early, smoke rises. Twelve effects that used to
draw the same scatter of squares.
All of it honours Reduce Motion, which skips to the payoff and keeps the result.
FIXED
Placing a bid could crash the app outright. A style set to nothing at all
reached a part of React Native that cannot handle it.
A finished match could be settled more than once, awarding ratings and wins that
were never played. Every result is now booked exactly one time.
A player who lost their connection and came straight back could be refused their
own seat, then forfeited while watching their own match. The seat is theirs
again. A player removed from a table is now told the actual reason.
The connection warning could stay on screen after the connection was already
back.
On a full table, the reveal verdict was pushed off the top of the screen.
Event matches now count on the career and season ladders, as ranked matches
always should have — the matches already played have been backfilled.
The season list shows the reward itself rather than a generic icon for its type.
1.3.0 Sep 12
RANKED DUEL
One on one, ten dice each, straight ones. No waiting for a table to fill: the match starts the moment a second player arrives. Duel has its own rating and its own place on the leaderboard, and your Overall, Wild Ones and Straight Ones ratings are untouched — a bad night at the duel table costs you nothing where it counts.
SEASON 1: HIGH NOON
Running 1 September to 31 October. Every ranked mode gets a season ladder beside its permanent one, so you can chase a fresh start without resetting the rating you spent months building. Ten matches in a ladder puts you in the standings.
Milestones at 5, 15 and 30 matches are yours to keep no matter where you finish. The Overall podium takes the Crownshard, Stormcore and Blood Moon dice, and the Duel podium takes three portraits of its own. None of them will ever be sold or handed out again.
CLIMB FAR ENOUGH AND IT SHOWS
Reach SHARK on your career Overall rating and the Riftglass dice are yours. Reach LEGEND and so is The Apex. If you are already there, they are waiting the next time you open the app — and they stay yours even if your rating slips later.
ALSO
A new look for the home screen, and a connection that recovers on networks that block WebSocket. Statistics now explain what Accuracy actually measures. Coming back to the app mid-match returns you to the table the right way up, every hand fits on screen when the cups come up in THE LONG CON, and the current bid no longer crowds the edge on smaller phones.
1.2.0 Aug 27
LIMITED EVENTS
THE LONG CON runs until 30 September: seven dice each, ones wild, and a ladder of its own that never touches your ranked rating. Play ten event matches to reach the standings. The top three take a prize that is never sold and never handed out again, and milestones at 10, 25, 50 and 75 matches are yours to keep whatever your finishing place.
LOADOUT
A tab of your own for dice, cups, tables, mats, avatars, banners and emotes. Every table is free, and you now see the one you picked rather than the host's.
EVERYTHING IS EARNED
Emotes and mats now come from trophy tiers, and a new trophy-score ladder rewards breadth across every badge rather than depth in one.
RANKS THAT MEAN SOMETHING
Tier thresholds were rebuilt around the ratings that actually occur, so SHARP, SHARK and LEGEND are reachable instead of theoretical. Each player's rating is now visible at the table.
ALSO
A much smaller download, faster art, and a ranked countdown that no longer restarts when someone new joins the queue.
1.1.0 Aug 23
Version 1.0.1 makes matches easier to read and more reliable:
• Hand indicators now follow the current bid and show how many matching dice you hold.
• Clearer LIAR reveals show the bid, actual total, each player's contribution and the losing player.
• Corrected die-face pip placement throughout the game.
• Improved layouts for larger matches, including player spacing, seating order, emote placement and turn prompts.
• Improved reconnection lets returning players reclaim their seat.
• Fixed ranked-queue navigation and several gameplay issues.
• Additional stability improvements.
1.0.1 Aug 20
THE HOUSE
