Tidy is a fast, quiet todo app for your Mac. Your lists live as plain files on your own machine. There is no account, no sync, and nothing to subscribe to.
It also has an AI assistant. That part is entirely optional, and it stays switched off until you decide otherwise.
WRITE A LIST, GET ON WITH YOUR DAY
Open Tidy and start typing. Enter starts the next task, Tab turns one into a subtask, Shift-Tab pulls it back out. Everything is a keystroke away, so your hands never have to leave the keyboard.
MULTIPLE LISTS, ONE VIEW
Keep Work, Personal and Learning apart, each with its own colour and icon. The All Tasks view puts everything in one place and labels each task with the list it came from, so you never lose track of where something belongs.
A REAL COMMAND PALETTE
Press ⌘K to jump between lists, create a new one, switch themes or open settings. No digging through menus.
AN ASSISTANT THAT ACTUALLY DOES THE WORK
Most AI features in todo apps answer questions about your tasks. Tidy's assistant changes them. Ask it to plan a trip and it creates the list, adds the tasks, nests the subtasks and puts them in order. Then it tells you in plain language what it did.
It runs on an API key you supply. Choose Groq, xAI, OpenAI, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, paste your key, and that is the whole setup. There is no separate AI subscription, because your provider bills you directly for what you use.
And if you would rather not use any of it, don't. The assistant does nothing at all until a key is added, and one shortcut hides the pane completely.
FOCUS MODE
⌘. collapses everything down to the task list on its own. No sidebar, no assistant, nothing but the work. ⌘⇧. brings it all back, and Tidy remembers how you left it.
YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
Lists and tasks are stored as ordinary JSON files in your app data folder. No account to create, no server to trust, no analytics. With the assistant switched off, nothing leaves your Mac at all. With it on, only the message you send and the relevant workspace context go to the provider you chose.
