Book dictionaries in 24 languages
Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Kurdish (Kurmanji, Latin script), Malay (Rumi), Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
Word translations for English books are available in the non-English languages listed above, plus Greek. Greek book scanning is not supported. Kurdish covers Kurmanji in Latin script, not Sorani; Malay covers Rumi, not Jawi.
A few things to know
Choose the book language, point at a word and pause briefly. Swipe the definition away to continue. Dictionary and word-translation coverage varies by word and language. Internet access is needed to browse and download language resources.
Contextual matching requires iOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence available and depends on language support. If no contextual match is available, the standard dictionary definition appears. Translated definitions require iOS 18 or later and compatible language models; availability varies by device and iOS version. Czech, Romanian, Greek, Kurmanji and Malay currently offer word translations only.
