There is a photograph of them on your phone from an ordinary Tuesday you no longer remember. Cairn is built to give it back to you.
Cairn turns the pictures already in your library into an album of your animal's whole life. Not an endless grid. A page for every month, laid out as day cards, so one swipe is one month of them. The ears in March. The couch they claimed in July. The years move under your thumb.
Then it starts handing days back. Look Back quietly surfaces this day, four years ago. That is the difference between storing photographs and ever seeing them again. You cannot get more time with an animal. You can notice the time you have.
PRIVATE, WHICH IS MOST OF THE POINT
Everything stays on this iPhone. No account, no sign up, no server, no feed, no ads, no tracking, nothing to share. Your photographs are never copied out of your library and never uploaded. Cairn keeps a reference to where each picture already lives, plus a small keepsake copy so the album still works. Nobody else can ever see it. Not us either. It is your animal and your phone, and that is the whole system.

An album built for you on device, using Apple's Vision framework to find your animal in the library you already have.
Look Back, the resurfacing: this day, four years ago.
The daily capture: a photograph, a note, or a voice recording. Record the sound they make. You will want it sooner than you think.
A short Sunday Letter about your own week, written on your iPhone. It never leaves the phone. On a phone that cannot run the model, a written letter arrives instead.
The Vault: weights, vet visits, vaccinations and medications, kept in one place and exportable as a PDF. It keeps records. It does not interpret them, and it is not veterinary advice.
More than one animal, each with an album of their own.
Later Years, Last Days, and an After arc with sealed letters, for whenever that time comes.
FREE, WITH NO TIME LIMIT
The whole album, every month and every year, with unlimited photographs and notes. The whole Vault and its PDF. The daily capture. One Look Back a day, up to three cards. A Sunday Letter once a month. And every part of Later Years, Last Days and After, with no gate at all, ever.
WHEN IT IS TIME
If your animal is in their last days, or has died, every price in Cairn disappears for them, permanently, and everything that was metered becomes unlimited. Nobody should be sold anything while they are sitting on the floor with a dying animal.
Companion, the optional subscription, buys frequency and never access: Look Back without the daily limit, the Sunday Letter every week instead of once a month, and a quiet note on the days worth looking back at.
Cairn never generates your animal's voice, image, or messages. Everything here was made by you, while they were here.

SUBSCRIPTION AND PURCHASE TERMS
Cairn Companion, yearly: USD 39.99 per year, which works out to about USD 3.33 a month, and the first 7 days are free.
Cairn Companion, monthly: USD 6.99 per month, with no free trial.
The 7 day free trial is offered on the yearly plan only.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the same price unless auto renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before that period ends. You can manage or cancel in Settings, Apple Account, Subscriptions. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription. Prices are in US dollars and may differ by storefront.
The Life Book, a typeset PDF of their whole life, is a one time purchase of USD 19.99, or it is included while Companion is active. Bought once it is yours forever, and it survives a lapsed subscription.
