Paste a link and Bookplate opens the page in its own reader window. Press Save and it keeps a Reader-mode copy — the words, the pictures it can keep, and nothing else — in a small library file on this Mac. Images are stored inside that copy wherever the site allows it, so what you saved still reads on a plane, on a train, or a year from now when the original has moved or gone behind a wall.
Bookplate saves what Reader mode can find. Article pages save cleanly. A page with nothing readable on it is not saved at all, rather than saved empty.
Press Listen and your Mac reads the article aloud in one of its own system voices, with pause, resume and stop. The voices ship with macOS and the audio is made on your machine.
Remove an article and there's a moment to undo it before it goes.
What Bookplate is not: it is not a feed, a recommender, or a collection of links somebody else picked. There is nothing to subscribe to and nothing to browse. Every article in your library is one you chose and saved yourself.
About the network, plainly: Bookplate loads the page you ask for, the way a browser would, and fetches that article's images so your copy still works offline later. That is all it uses the internet for. There is no account, no sign-in, no sync, no analytics and no server of ours. Your library is a file on your own Mac, and it stays there.
One of a small set of quiet, single-purpose Mac tools — each one does exactly one thing, and nothing else.
