The Blue Plate
A Wordless 1958 Diner Story
$4.99
Apple Vision
A wordless five-minute story set in a 1958 American diner. Sit at the counter, watch one shift pass from dawn to neon, and see what Pearl gives away before closing.
The Blue Plate is short and quiet, and almost nothing happens. That is the point.
You sit at the counter of a diner in Dundalk, Maryland, in 1958 — the last one on the boulevard before the shipyard gate — and watch a single shift pass, dawn to neon.
Pearl has kept this counter for eleven years. Coffee at six. Pie at noon. Every name remembered.
Tonight is her last shift.
There is no dialogue and no text. Nothing to read, nothing to solve. The light moves from dawn through the morning rush, the long afternoon, dusk, and finally night. Near the end, Pearl gives something away.
The whole piece runs about five minutes.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Look around. Lean in. A few things on the counter answer if you look at them and pinch — the radio, the pie domes under their glass. The radio is worth finding.
When the shift is over you can stay and sit in the empty diner as long as you like.

A quieter, more cinematic version of The Blue Plate is here.
This update refines the full immersive diner experience around Pearl’s seated shift, with a stronger focus on atmosphere, lighting, music, and spatial sound. The story now unfolds through five time-of-day states, self-writing chalkboard moments, the pie plate gesture in the lull, and a newly staged finale synchronized to the original song.
Also included:
• Updated diner lighting progression from dawn to night
• Revised chalkboard story stages
• Refined spatial audio cues for implied diner activity
• Updated Pearl staging for the seated narrative direction
• Finale improvements, including Pearl’s hands-to-face moment and final look-up cue
• General polish and stability improvements for visionOS
