Your pet is drawn far more accurately now. Coat colour, markings, eye colour and ear shape match your photo much more closely — and pets that used to be tricky now come out clean: long-haired, very dark and unusual companions alike. The transformation takes a little longer in return. Give your pet the minute.

The pet record can be filled in properly again. Until now a row only reacted when you hit the text exactly – a tap in the middle of the row did nothing. The whole row is the target now. And if your iPhone is in dark mode, you can finally see which date the birthday wheel is set to: every input now sits legibly on light paper.

Bring your pet back from the Lock Screen. iOS clears the Dynamic Island after a few hours – until now the only way back was opening the app. One button is enough now: your pet is there again without you opening Cosmo. How to set it up: press and hold the Lock Screen, tap "Customize", and swap one of the two buttons at the bottom for "Wake pet". Prefer it higher up? Add the new Cosmo widget below the clock instead.

Gift your pet: the share button now sends a link. Whoever opens it gets your pet in their own room. Not quite right? After the transformation you get two more tries and keep whichever pet you like best. New: the pet file with all the details about your pet – plus a button to report a problem straight to us. We also got better at more species: hamsters, guinea pigs and birds now have their own reference. And if a paid purchase ever gets stuck, your room says so instead of swallowing it.
