Shade combines the live UV index for your location with your Fitzpatrick skin type to estimate how long you can stay in the sun before your skin starts to burn, then counts it down for you. It won't help you tan faster, and it doesn't try to. It estimates when your skin has likely had enough, and keeps time so you don't have to. The yearly plan starts with a free 7-day trial for new subscribers. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings after purchase. Burn-time estimates follow WHO UV Index public guidance and standard Fitzpatrick minimal erythemal dose values, shown as ranges because skin, altitude, reflection and medication all shift the real answer. Shade is an informational tool, not a medical device, and it can't promise you won't burn. It doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent anything. For any concern about your skin, talk to a dermatologist. Your location is used to fetch UV data and never leaves your device except as a coordinate sent to Apple Weather. There is no account and no sign-up.
