Imports 12,000 photos without stopping on the one broken video — and never copies the same file twice. Portara imports photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or camera over USB — and actually finishes the job. WHEN ONE BAD FILE STOPS EVERYTHING A single damaged video can end an entire import. Other tools stop dead, leaving you to hunt for the file that broke it. Portara reopens the connection, carries on past the bad file, and tells you exactly which one caused the problem so you can deal with it. Files that take the connection down are remembered and skipped automatically next time. NEVER COPY THE SAME PHOTO TWICE Before each import, Portara scans your destination folder — including subfolders from earlier imports with a different layout. Files matching by name, size, and capture date are skipped without transferring a single byte. Anything ambiguous is verified with a SHA-256 content hash, so a duplicate is never written and a genuinely different file is never overwritten. ORGANIZED THE WAY YOU WANT • Photos and Videos folders • Year and month folders • Type and date combined • Or everything flat in one folder Original filenames are always kept, and capture dates are restored on the copied files so they sort correctly in Finder. YOUR FILES ARRIVE UNCHANGED Everything is copied byte for byte. EXIF, GPS coordinates, and video metadata are untouched. Nothing on your device is ever modified or deleted. BUILT FOR LARGE LIBRARIES Handles libraries of 12,000 files and over 100 GB. Duplicate checking and verification run across multiple CPU cores while transfers continue, so the connection is never left idle. SEE WHAT YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU IMPORT Browse everything on the device as thumbnails with dates and file sizes. Search by filename, filter to photos or videos, and double-click any item for a full preview. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION Portara has no network access at all — not "we promise not to", but incapable. There are no analytics, no accounts, no telemetry, and no third-party code of any kind. You can verify it yourself with the codesign tool. REQUIREMENTS • macOS 14 or later • A device connected by USB cable • iPhone and iPad must be unlocked, with this computer trusted Note: Apple does not allow wireless photo access for iPhone or iPad, so a cable is required for those devices.
