• Add photos to albums. Drag photos onto an album in the sidebar, or choose Add to Album from a photo’s context menu. Drop them on Favorites to mark them as favorites. • Remove from an album. Inside an album or Favorites, the context menu takes photos back out. They stay in your library. • Grid view in mini mode. Mini mode can show your photos as a grid as well as a list, and its title opens a menu of every album. • The window stays where you put it. The window reopens where you left it, and the window and popover each remember their own size. • A fresh accent color, taken from the PhotoPop icon. • No more freezing while Photos catches up. PhotoPop no longer hangs on a Mac whose Photos library is still syncing or being set up. • Rate PhotoPop right from its menu. • Fixes. The inspector preview no longer goes blank when you switch between popover and window, sidebar names like Recently Added are no longer cut short, the search field shows a focus outline, and a popover closed by dragging a photo out no longer lingers on screen.

• Copy and drag every selected photo. Copying or dragging several photos out of PhotoPop now takes all of them, not just one. • Download progress when copying. Copying photos that are still in iCloud shows a progress panel while they download. • Your selection stays put. Reopening PhotoPop no longer clears a selection of several photos.

• Interface Size. Settings ▸ Appearance can now make PhotoPop’s text and controls larger. • Works with VoiceOver and Voice Control. Photos, files, the sidebar and every control now have names, and everything in the context menu is available as an action. PhotoPop also respects Reduce Motion and Increase Contrast, and marks selected photos with a checkmark when Differentiate Without Color is on. • The file menu speaks your language. The context menu for files and folders is now translated. • The ⋯ menu stays open. On macOS 27, the ⋯ menu could close the instant it opened if it was the first thing you clicked after opening the popover.

• The sidebar stays in bounds. In a narrow panel, dragging the sidebar wide could push its labels off the left edge and the toolbar buttons off the right. The sidebar now stops where everything else still fits. • Photo info is readable again. In the list view, the info popover for the selected photo sometimes showed its details in white text on a light background.

• The sidebar resizes. Drag the line between the sidebar and your photos to make it wider or narrower — handy for long album names, or for handing the extra room to the photos instead. PhotoPop remembers the width. Double-click the line to put it back where it started.

• Folders open in place. A folder you’ve added to the sidebar now unfolds to show the folders inside it, however deep they go. Click the arrow beside it to open it up; click the folder itself to browse it, with the sidebar staying exactly as you left it. PhotoPop remembers what you left open, and a folder with nothing inside it looks just as it did before. • “Add Folder…” stays with Preferences. In Preferences ▸ Sidebar, the folder chooser now opens on the window itself instead of in the middle of the screen.

• The sidebar folds. Library, Albums and Folders each collapse from their header, so a long list no longer pushes everything else out of sight. Point at a header and an arrow appears at its right end; click anywhere on the header to fold or unfold it. PhotoPop remembers what you left folded. • Your own albums have their own section. They used to sit at the end of the Library list. Now they're in Albums, directly below it — so folding the built-in rows away leaves your albums right at the top of the sidebar. • The + on the Folders header is gone. Add a folder from the Library menu's “Add Folder…”, from Preferences ▸ Sidebar, or by dragging one onto the section.

• Dragging out a photo stored in iCloud no longer freezes the app. The drag starts straight away and the photo downloads while you move it, with a progress readout when it takes a moment. • Faster scrolling deep in your library — thumbnails are fetched ahead of where you're scrolling instead of waiting until each photo reaches the screen. • Dropping a photo into Finder is quicker: one stored in iCloud was being downloaded twice on its way out. • Dragging a rubber-band selection no longer scrolls the grid out from under the cursor.

• Pin your own folders to the sidebar — add any folder from the filesystem, drag one on or add it in Preferences ▸ Sidebar, and browse it right alongside your Photos albums. • Various UI improvements.

• Choose what the sidebar lists — a new Sidebar tab in Preferences gives every row its own switch: All Photos, the smart albums like Favorites and Screenshots, and each of your own albums. Untick what you never open and it's gone from the sidebar, the Library menu, and the compact layout. New albums show up on their own. • ⌘W puts PhotoPop away — Escape already did; now the shortcut your fingers reach for does too, for both the popover and the window. With Preferences open in front of them, ⌘W closes Preferences first, the way it should. • Search settings have their own tab — place-name search and iCloud photo indexing were buried at the bottom of General, below things you set once and forget. They're now in Preferences ▸ Search, with the same progress readouts.

• Search now finds the photos that live in iCloud — if your Mac keeps full copies of only some of your library (what Optimize Mac Storage does), PhotoPop could look inside just those, so a search for "cookies" turned up a small fraction of your cookies. It now fetches a scaled-down copy of each photo it hasn't seen, never the original, and Preferences shows how far along it is. There's a switch there if you'd rather it stuck to what's already on this Mac. • Plurals and two-word terms match — "cookie" found your cookies but "cookies" found nothing, and "baked goods" never matched anything at all. Both work now.

• Search your photos by place name — turn it on in Preferences and "Kyoto" or "Big Sur" finds the shots you took there. Photos only store raw coordinates, so PhotoPop looks the names up through Apple's geocoding service and caches them on your Mac; your photos never leave it. Off until you ask for it, and turning it off again deletes what was looked up. • Quick Look is reliable again — pressing Space could show the photo for a moment and then fall back to a bare file-type icon, or claim nothing was selected. The preview now stays put, and arrow-keying through an album keeps up instead of stalling on whichever photo was slowest to load. • Much lower CPU use in the background — PhotoPop could stay busy long after you'd put it away. The photo-content index kept retrying pictures it couldn't read (originals that live only in iCloud) instead of setting them aside, so it never finished; and whichever folder you last browsed stayed watched while the panel was closed. The index now finishes, runs at a lower priority, and PhotoPop stands down when you dismiss it.

• PhotoPop now opens itself the first time you launch it, so a new install shows you what it does instead of waiting to be found • Quieter after that — PhotoPop no longer reopens the picker on every launch, and waits in the menu bar for a click or ⌃⌥⌘P • Window mode now opens centered instead of tucked into the bottom-left corner of the screen, and still remembers wherever you move it
