For media accredited with the NSW RFS. Firecast delivers your Media Accreditation, incident information and fire warnings to support safe reporting on bush fires. Firecast is the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) media coordination and safety app for accredited media personnel and the RFS Public Information Unit. From 2026, RFS Media Accreditation is delivered through Firecast. Media personnel who complete RFS media bush fire safety training receive their accreditation in the app, and use it to receive incident information, official warnings and operational updates from the RFS while covering fires. What you can do in Firecast: View your RFS Media Accreditation after issue Receive official RFS incident notifications and warnings (Emergency Warning, Watch and Act, Advice) View incidents across NSW on the map Share imagery and information from the field Share your location to support media safety and accountability on active firegrounds Who Firecast is for: Firecast is for media personnel accredited with the NSW RFS, and for authorised RFS staff. Access is restricted. After downloading, you register in the app and access is granted by the RFS Media Unit. About RFS media accreditation: Media wishing to attend a bush or grass fire incident must be appropriately trained in safe working practices around bush fires and wear appropriate personal protective clothing. RFS Media Accreditation must be held to enter a NSW RFS-controlled fireground. Accreditation does not guarantee entry, as some situations may be too dangerous.
