Log grind, dose, yield and time. Say whether the shot ran sour or bitter, weak or strong. Barra reads it against your own machine's limits and tells you the one thing to change next — a real adjustment, not a chart to interpret.

Grind two steps finer. Let it run three seconds longer. Raise the temperature a degree. Barra names the change and the size of it, in the units your gear actually uses — and it will never tell you to go finer than your grinder can go.

Every shot for a bean plots on one banded chart, so you can watch the numbers converge instead of guessing whether you're closer. When a shot lands, lock it in. Barra keeps that recipe as the dialed-in one for that bean on that machine, stamped and ready to pull again tomorrow.
BUILT AROUND YOUR GEAR
Pick your machine and grinder and the whole app adapts: the grind range, the step size, whether you dose by weight, time or volume, and whether water temperature is even yours to set. 10 machines and 25 grinders come preloaded — Gaggia, Breville, De'Longhi, Decent, Ninja, KitchenAid, Baratza, Niche, Eureka, Fellow, 1Zpresso, Comandante, Timemore and more — and pair the two so one grind number means the same thing every time. Anything not on the list, you can add by hand.
YOUR SHELF
492 coffees from 40 roasters come bundled, specialty and supermarket both, with roast level, origin, process and tasting notes already filled in. Pick one and it prefills the form. Scan a barcode or type it in for anything else, then track roast dates, what's open and what's running low.

No cloud, no tracking, no analytics, no sign-up. Barra works with no connection at all; the only thing that ever reaches the network is a barcode lookup, and only when you ask for one. A single backup file moves the lot — machines, grinders, beans, shots, drinks and photos — to a new phone.

Bluetooth scales: pair an Acaia Lunar (2021), Pyxis or Pearl S and the shot is timed and the yield captured live, with optional auto-log.
New gear: LUCCA machines (M58 Sunto, X58, A53, Solo, Tempo) and Mahlkönig grinders (X64 SD, X54, E64 WS, EK43, EK Omnia), plus grinder photos.
Fine dials: read a grinder in half, quarter, fifth or tenth steps, so a 0–12 collar logs 2.6 and advice moves one mark at a time.
