Dedicated playback engines reproduce each system's sound hardware — Paola, SID, AY, YM, OPL, OPN, SCC, TED, POKEY, SN76489, even the ZX Spectrum beeper and many others — so tunes play the way they did on the original machine rather than as recordings.
A player that looks the part
An Amiga-intro-style visualizer with multiple retro-style fonts scrolling text, note pattern (for supported formats) and stereo/mono spectrum display, designed to be left running and admired.
Radio and podcasts
Selected retro and demoscene radio stations and podcasts can be streamed directly.
Your own files too
Open local music files from Finder, or drag them straight onto the window. ChipMachine registers as an alternate handler for the formats it supports and never takes files over from a player you already use.
An internet connection is required to play from the online library, as tracks are fetched on demand from publicly available archives. Local file playback works offline.
