You are Rex Denton, and nobody serious thinks you can win. Pick whose eyes you trust: five companions, five different games. Nearly nobody gets out clean.
Run for president as Rex Denton: billionaire, showman, the joke nobody laughed at fast enough. The party has a plan, and you are not in it. Every choice you make moves five numbers that decide what you become, and the game keeps a moral ledger you don’t get to read until the end.
The Swamp is a narrative political strategy game played as a political satire in three acts. There is no map painting and no dice. There is a room, a decision, and the people watching you make it.
PICK YOUR LENS
You are always Rex. But you see the story through one of the five people closest to him, and each companion is a different game:
- Nadia, the wife with the locked box, who reads the Circle before it breaks.
- Reed, the son who believes, keeping a whip count of which institutions still hold.
- Tommy, the fixer who sees the price tag on every choice before you pay it.
- Diego, who built the online army and reads tomorrow’s headline early.
- Pat, the reporter who knows exactly when every fuse blows.
Every companion has a full thread through each act, an opening, a turn, and a resolution of their own, and nothing you do in their shoes is forgotten: they bring it up later, it goes on the record, and it shapes how their story ends. At the end, you choose your last words to them, and they answer. Five lenses, five instrument panels, five different games.
THREE ACTS, ONE RECKONING
The Announcement: escalator to convention, the campaign nobody wanted. The First 100 Days: the win, the desk, the first foreign test, and the investigation growing out of one loose thread. The Reckoning: the year the bills arrive, ending in a courtroom, a chamber, or a crowd on the Assembly steps waiting to be told what to do.
THE WAR ROOM
Each act plays out in four or five stages, and between stages you make one move: press an advantage, raise money, or answer the threat about to go off. Three threats burn on the board, one coming due at a time, and every one can be defused if you see it coming. The Tally reports what the stage cost, what held, what went off, and what the country’s feed made of it all.
TWENTY-FOUR ENDINGS
Earn the nomination or buy it. Hold the office or bleed it out. Stand the crowd down or light it up. Four fates per act, each with a kinder and a crueler face, every one written and kept in your Fate Gallery, along with the receipts: the moral ledger of what you did to get there.
RUN IT AGAIN, DIFFERENTLY
When your fate lands, the game shows how close you came to a different one and the single choice that moved it most. Gambles are real gambles, with odds you can see and outcomes you can’t guarantee. Scenes remember what you did, so the same beat reads differently depending on the run you are having.
Act One is free. The First 100 Days and The Reckoning are one-time purchases, sold separately or together as The Full Ledger. No subscriptions, no ads, no energy bars.
Fictional characters. Familiar weather.
Ratings & Reviews

A cleaner, sharper Swamp. The War Room is now one decisive move between stages. Threats come due one at a time, and every one can be defused. Gambles show real odds. Every choice you make as a companion is now remembered. Endings now match how you played, with eight per act and a look at how close you came to a different one. Finish Act One and carry straight on into Act Two, or open both remaining acts at once with The Full Ledger. Tighter writing throughout, plus fixes.
