Drag a grade boundary and watch the whole distribution move. Catch every candidate one mark from the next band, before you publish. MarkScheme turns a column of raw marks into a custom grade scale — and shows you the consequence of every boundary while you are still deciding. Teachers set boundaries in a spreadsheet and only see the result afterwards. MarkScheme shows it while you drag. DRAG A BOUNDARY, WATCH THE GRADES MOVE Grab a handle on the score axis and slide it. The histogram beneath redraws under your cursor and every band count and percentage updates live. Non-linear band widths are the point — a scale does not have to be evenly spaced. CATCH EVERY ONE-MARK MISS The Borderline screen lists every candidate sitting within a margin you choose of the next boundary, with the exact number of marks they need. Move a boundary to a candidate's score in one click. SEE THE WHOLE COHORT Counts and percentages per band. Mean, median, standard deviation and range. A score histogram coloured by band, with boundary and mean markers. COMPARE TWO SCALES Measure two boundary sets against identical scores, side by side, and see exactly which candidates change grade. HIT A TARGET SHARE Ask where a boundary would have to sit for a given share of the cohort to reach it, then apply that boundary with one click. REUSE YOUR SCALES Templates for A–F letters, 9–1 numbered grades, Pass / Merit / Distinction, university classifications and straight percentage bands. Every scale is reusable across assessments and terms. IMPORT AND EXPORT CSV import with explicit column mapping — comma, semicolon and tab separated files. PDF grade report, grades CSV, distribution CSV and printing. ROUNDING YOU CONTROL Exact score, round to nearest mark, round up or round down. The rule changes who passes, so it is yours to set. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No cloud sync. No analytics, tracking or advertising. Every scale, score and report stays on your Mac. The app never asks for a student's name — use candidate numbers. WHAT MARKSCHEME IS NOT It is not a gradebook. It stores no assignments, no attendance and no running averages.
