Fretwise 1.2 adds three tools and speaks nine languages. NEW • Chord & Scale Finder (Pro): tap frets to name a chord, or tap notes to see which scales contain them • Progression Builder (Pro): set each chord's length in beats, choose the tempo and 4/4 or 3/4, loop it with a click, and save your progressions • Theory Lab (Pro): seven short lessons on intervals, modes, chords and the circle of fifths • The app now speaks English, Spanish, Turkish, French, German, Arabic, Russian, Italian and Portuguese • Note names can show as solfège (Do Re Mi) • Two new scales: Lydian Augmented and Whole-Half Diminished • Scales over a chord now gives a clear first answer and sorts the other scales by how well they fit CHANGED • The fretboard now draws the high E string on top, as in tablature. Settings has a switch for Low E on top if you prefer the old view Settings (the gear icon at the top) holds the language, note names and string order.

New: Maqam & Makam • 8 Arabic maqamat and 9 Turkish makamlar on the fretboard, with the quarter tones and commas that fall between the frets: Rast, Bayati, Hijaz, Nahawand, Kurd, Ajam, Sikah, Saba, Uşşak, Hicaz, Nihavent, Kürdî, Hüseynî, Segâh, Sabâ and Hümâyun. • Authentic view shows where each pitch truly lies; Standard view shows the fret to play and how far to bend. • Ajnas and çeşniler, the sayr or seyir of each mode, an example phrase, and five-fret positions that play one note at a time. • Move any maqam or makam to another tonic, or lay it out along a single string. Better sound • Every note now has the same clean plucked tone at its exact pitch. Some notes used to sound thin or slightly out of tune.

Note names and target tones now follow the theory: • Notes are spelled by scale degree. F major shows Bb instead of A#, D Phrygian shows Eb and Bb, and chords follow the same rule. • The sharp/flat switch now chooses the name of the key. When a key would need a double sharp or flat, the simpler name is used: D# major appears as Eb major. • Target Tones highlight only the scale's home chord. The blues b5, the Lydian #4 and the bebop passing 7th are no longer marked as chord tones.

Fretboard fixes: • Scale positions now show only the frets inside the selected box. Open strings outside the position are no longer drawn, so each CAGED shape reads exactly as you'd play it. Choose "Full neck" to see every note, open strings included. • The Target Tones toggle now shows the real chord-tone degrees of the selected scale. In minor pentatonic, for example, it reads 1-b3-5-b7 instead of always 1-3-5-7.
