Monitor & Block Connections
Only for Mac

Mac
See every connection your Mac apps make, then block the ones you never agreed to. Live traffic, per app rules, history and maps. Nothing leaves your Mac.
PacketWarden is an app firewall for Mac. It shows every outgoing connection your apps make, and it lets you stop the ones you never agreed to.
Most Mac apps talk to servers in the background. Analytics, telemetry, ad networks, update pings and third party SDKs all run without a word. PacketWarden puts that traffic on screen and hands you the switch.
WATCH EVERY CONNECTION
See live network activity as it happens, app by app. Each connection shows the destination host, IP address, port, protocol, country and how many bytes moved in and out. The list comes from the system network filter, so it covers the whole machine, not one browser.
BLOCK WITH ONE CLICK
Take an app off the network from the Applications list. Add a domain rule to stop a single host across every app. Rules apply right away, with no restart, no proxy and no VPN profile.
TWO MODES OF CONTROL
Blocklist mode lets everything through except what you deny. Allowlist mode flips it: nothing connects until you approve it. Use lockdown when you want silence, then pause the guard for a few minutes when you need traffic back.
WHAT PEOPLE FIND ON DAY ONE
A note taking app pinging an analytics host every minute. A finished game still opening ad connections in the background. An old utility uploading crash reports to a server that shut down years ago. You cannot decide what to allow until you can see it.
TRAFFIC HISTORY THAT ANSWERS QUESTIONS
Charts by hour, day, week and month show which apps used the network and how much data they moved. Find the app that has been uploading all week and decide what to do about it.
SEARCH, SORT AND EXPORT
Search the connection log by app or host, filter it by allowed or blocked, and sort by time or data volume to bring the loudest app to the top. Export the log to CSV when you want a record you can keep or open elsewhere.
CONNECTION MAP
Plot destinations on a world map from a local GeoIP database. See at a glance when an app reaches a country you did not expect.
FIRST CONTACT ALERTS
Get a notification the first time an app talks to a server it has never used before. New destinations are where the surprises live.
BLOCK LISTS
Load curated lists of ad, tracker and telemetry domains and stop them across your whole Mac in one step.
MENU BAR AT A GLANCE
The menu bar panel shows throughput per app for the last five seconds, the last hour or since midnight, with one click to pause or resume the guard.
LIGHT ON THE MACHINE
PacketWarden is a native macOS app built on Apple's Network Extension framework. No kernel extension, no third party tunnel, no traffic routed through a remote server. Filtering happens on your Mac at the socket level and stays quiet in the background.
EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR MAC
No account, no sign in, no cloud. Connection history lives in a local database on your machine, GeoIP lookup runs offline and nothing about your traffic is uploaded anywhere.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
New: AI Activity
• See which apps on your Mac connect to AI services like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and more than 30 others. For each app you can see which services it uses, how much data it sends and receives, and when.
• Apps with built-in AI features get their own section, so a familiar app can't quietly send your data to an AI service without you seeing it.
Block AI one app at a time
• Stop a single app from reaching an AI service while everything else keeps working, or block a service for all apps with one click. You can undo it at any time.
AI Activity is free for the last 24 hours. Longer history and blocking come with Pro.
Domain rules now cover more apps
• PacketWarden now sees where Chrome, Edge, Brave, apps like Slack and VS Code, and command line tools are connecting. Your domain rules and block lists now apply to them too, and the Flow Journal shows real site names instead of bare IP addresses.
Blocked sites stay blocked
• When you have domain rules, browsers now use a regular connection instead of HTTP/3, which lets PacketWarden see and block the site. Pages load just as fast. You can turn this off in Settings.
Ready for macOS 27
• PacketWarden is updated and tested for macOS 27.
Improvements and fixes
- If you turned protection off, it now stays off after app updates.
- If you remove the network extension, it no longer comes back by itself.

- Clicking the Dock icon brings the main window back after you close it.
- The menu bar no longer opens extra windows.
- Guard Rules now show whether each rule covers all apps or just one.
- Your history updates over time, and after upgrading to Pro your full history appears right away, without restarting the app.
- Database updates are more reliable.
