Every New Testament quotation of the Old, linked to its source and marked with which ancient text tradition it follows — the Greek, the Hebrew, or neither exactly. The Greek Old Testament in English — the Old Testament the New Testament writers actually quoted, and the canonical Old Testament of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Fifty-three books, complete, in Sir Lancelot Brenton's 1851 translation. Nothing is abridged and nothing is missing. THE APOSTLES' MAP When a New Testament writer quotes the Old Testament, which text was in front of him? This edition answers that, verse by verse. Every quotation is linked to its source and marked with one of three plain-language badges: Follows the Greek, Follows the Hebrew, or Neither exactly. Hebrews 10:5 is the clearest case. The Hebrew of Psalm 40:6 reads "mine ears hast thou opened"; the Greek reads "a body hast thou prepared me"; Hebrews quotes the Greek, word for word. The map shows you that, and says so in ordinary words. "Neither exactly" is an honest and common answer — often the writer was quoting from memory, paraphrasing, or drawing on both. This edition says so rather than pretending to a certainty it does not have. THE NUMBERING BRIDGE Your Psalm 23 is Psalm 22 here, and this app never makes you work that out alone. Both numbers appear together, and searching in either numbering finds the psalm. The shift in verse numbers is handled too. WHAT ELSE IS INSIDE • Full-text search across the whole canon • The deuterocanonical books as ordinary members of this canon, not an appendix • Psalm 151, which the Hebrew Bible does not have • Bookmarks, highlights and notes — all editable, deletable, and undoable • Chapters that explain themselves where the Greek moves material elsewhere FREE FOREVER All fifty-three books, full-text search, the Apostles' Map and export are free and always will be. Scripture is never placed behind a purchase. SEPTUAGINT PRO An optional subscription adds the study layer: the reverse map (from any Old Testament verse, every New Testament passage that quotes it), unlimited bookmarks, highlights and notes, an introduction to every book, and reading plans. Subscription terms: Septuagint Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, available monthly or annually, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending. You can manage or cancel it at any time in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your device. PRIVACY No account. No tracking. No advertising. No permissions of any kind — no camera, no photos, no notifications, no location. The app makes no network calls at all beyond Apple's own purchase flow. What you read and write stays on your device. SOURCES Brenton's translation and its Greek text are in the public domain. The tradition badges come from our own measurement of the Greek texts, with a small number of entries decided by hand and marked as such.
