Review diffs without touching the mouse. Walk hunks, mark what you've settled, and fix code right where you found it — for local trees and pull requests alike.
Code Review App is a keyboard-driven macOS app for reviewing code fast, without touching the mouse.
It looks like a pull request. It works like lazygit. And unlike either, the diff is editable: you can fix a line or drop a review TODO right where you found it.
WHY CODEREVIEW
Most code under review today wasn't written by the person reviewing it, and neither a web pull-request view nor a local git client is built for that job. A web PR view has almost no keyboard navigation, and everything you write there is only a comment, never a change to the code. A local diff has no review surface at all: findings end up in a terminal while the code lives in files, so writing down a fix means leaving the review, opening an editor, and finding the line again.
CodeReview takes that familiar pull-request look, lazygit's keyboard feel, and adds what neither has: you can edit the file you're reviewing, in place, as part of the review.
WHAT YOU CAN REVIEW
- A working tree: staged and unstaged changes together, the "what just landed" view.
- A pull request: the same keyboard workflow, reading and commenting through its host's API.
KEYBOARD-ONLY, START TO FINISH
Walk every changed file and every hunk with j/k. Mark what you've settled with Space: a whole file, a single hunk, or line by line, even inside one contiguous change. A file completes itself once its last hunk is marked, so you never maintain a checklist by hand. Press i to edit the file right where you're looking, or drop a distinctly marked review TODO with one key. A context-sensitive hint bar always shows what the keys in front of you do.
MARKS THAT ARE REAL GIT STATE
A viewed hunk is a staged hunk. Marking a change stages exactly that region in git's own index, not a sidecar file this app invents, so "git add -p" in a terminal reads as review progress here, and a mark made here is visible to every other git tool. When code changes again, only the hunk that changed loses its mark; reopen the repo and you see exactly what actually moved.
BUILT FOR BOTH LOCAL REVIEW AND PULL REQUESTS
The same keys, the same diff, the same marking model, whether you're reviewing your own uncommitted work or someone else's pull request. Reviewing a pull request needs an access token, pasted in or taken over from your command-line login; reviewing a local working tree needs nothing at all: no account, no network.
WHAT IT DELIBERATELY DOESN'T DO
CodeReview is a navigation surface, not an AI reviewer and not a git client: no suggested findings, no auto-fixes, no pushing or branch operations, and no team workflow. The one commit it makes is the one you approve at the end of a local review, of exactly what you marked viewed. It makes the human part of a review, reading, judging, writing the finding down, fast, and leaves everything else to the tools you already use.
PRIVACY
A working-tree review makes no network connection at all. A pull-request review talks only to your pull-request host's API, using a token you provide. No telemetry, no analytics, no sign-in.
