You don't jump. You walk. Start at home, learn a country and its neighbours open; sail when the land runs out. All 197 countries, offline, no ads, no subscription.
Fill in a world map by learning it. Every country you know lights up, and the
ones beside it open.
You don't jump. You walk — from home, one border at a time, sailing when the
land runs out — and Borderwalk brings each country back just before you'd
forget it.
All 197 countries, fully offline, with no ads and no subscription. Nothing
that teaches is for sale.
Lessons adapt to what you're about to forget, and they don't just ask what a
capital is. They ask which countries border this one, which of these is furthest
north, put these four in order. That is the difference between flashcards and
knowing where you are.
HOW IT WORKS
• 3-minute lessons with spaced repetition: review exactly when it counts
• 197 countries × 6 facts: capitals, flags, shapes, locations, names and how
they sit beside each other
• The map is the app. Not a tab, but the thing you look at all the time
• A frontier that grows: fogged, then on the horizon, then yours in bronze,
silver, gold. Neglect a region and it fades; a review brings it back
• Pinch out past the world and the map becomes a globe. Spin it, tap any
country, land on it. The same map, wrapped onto a planet
• Fly anywhere: tap a fogged country and go. The first flight is free. Learn
it, and a new frontier grows from there
• Expeditions: the Silk Road, the Andes, the Danube, walked one country a
lesson, with a picture of the walk at the end
• A living planet: a real sun moves day and night across the map, and the
countries you know light up at night. Forget one and it wears weather
• Eight region soundscapes that follow where you look, and Pip, a small warm
voice for the moments that matter
• Hear every country and capital said aloud, wherever a name is printed
• Twenty-one companions, one a region, met and bonded by mastery. No boosts,
no stats, just company
• Pin It: a city, a blank map, seven seconds. Drop your pin as close as you
can. Five shields, a second look on a far miss, endless waves
• A passport of chops: 197 hand-drawn marks, one a country, bronze, silver or
gold as you master it, a postcard on the first stamp, and full-page visas
for whole continents
• A Country Dossier you EARN: ten pages a country. Its capital, its bearings
from home, the flags it is confused with, its borders, its people and money,
opened page by page by what you have actually learned. The gate is the
learning, never a price
• Today in every country: the time in its capital right now, when the sun
rises there, today's public holiday, and one thing that happened there on
this day of the year
• The day that made it: a narrated story for every one of the 197, told over
music that fits the moment, yours from the day you earn the stamp
• Master a country and its flag flies on the map, and on the globe, leaning
as it rounds the edge, dark on the night side
• Streaks with freezes, three daily quests, a streak calendar, gems, chests,
combos and a Double-XP boost, and a scarf shop for Pip to spend gems in
• Daily Challenge: the whole world gets the same 7 questions. Share your
no-spoiler result grid
• A home-screen widget that is a planet: your countries, lit at night
RACE THE WORLD (optional, needs a free account)
• Weekly leagues: a fresh cohort every Monday, promote or hold your tier
• Duels: challenge a friend to the same five questions, head to head
• Follow friends and compare the week on a private leaderboard
MADE TO RESPECT YOU
• Works fully offline: every lesson, every map, every story, no account
• No ads. No tracking. Nothing that teaches is ever for sale
• There is an Explorer's Pass if you want to support the app, and a tip jar.
Both optional, and neither unlocks a single question
• Color-blind friendly palette and full Dynamic Type support
• Under-13? Borderwalk runs fully local with notifications and analytics off.
Start with your home country. One lesson, one stamp, and 196 to go.
Ratings & Reviews
Borderwalk 2.0 is a planet you can own.
• Fly anywhere. Tap any fogged country and fly there. The first flight is
free. Learn it, and a new frontier grows from it.
• Expeditions. Walk the Silk Road, the Andes or the Danube one country a
lesson; a country that is fading gets its colour back on the way.
• Every stamp is now a chop: 197 hand-drawn one-colour marks, one per
country, tinted bronze, silver or gold as you master it. Your first
stamp on a country brings a postcard.
• A living planet. The map has a real sun: day, dusk and night move across
it, and at night the countries you know light up, gold ones brightest.
A country you are forgetting wears weather until you visit it again.
• Sound. Eight region soundscapes follow where you are looking, and the
ends of lessons and journeys have music.
• Daily quests and a home base: three small goals a day, a streak calendar,
a freeze shelf, a scarf shop for Pip, and the world ladder.
• Pin It, relaxed: five shields, a second look on a far miss, and a picture
of the moment a run ended that you can send.
• The widget is a planet now.
• Share a link to any country. borderwalk://find/JP asks "where is Japan?"
on the map and lands you there.
• Pip speaks. A small, warm voice for the moments that matter, and a
speaker button beside every country and capital, so you can hear how
it's said.
• Companions: twenty-one cozy animals, one per region, met by learning
half of it and bonded by learning it all. They do nothing for you. That
is the point.
• Evening rounds: when a few places are getting hazy, a three-minute
round gives their colour back. Never homework, always your call.
• Visit a friend's world: with their invite code, see the countries they
know, the ones fading, and where they're learning right now.
• A living planet: clouds on the winds, ships on the crossings, planes on
the routes you've flown.
• Today in every country: the time in the capital, when the sun rises
there, today's holiday, and one thing that happened there on this day of the year.
• The day that made it: one narrated story per country, told by a new
narrator over music that fits the moment, from the moment you earn the
stamp.
• Gold flags: master a country and its flag flies on the map, and on the
planet, leaning as it rounds the edge.
• The Explorer's Pass, if you want it: flights free forever, every scarf,
a gold passport and a gold kerchief for your companion. And a tip jar.
Nothing that teaches is behind either.
• The map answers you now. Touch a country and the places you could walk
to next light up in turn. Touch somewhere you can't reach yet and it
shows you the step that gets you there.
• Every country tells you what it opens before you go, and when a lesson
ends the next one is already waiting.
• A continent at a time: stamp a country and the map says how much of its
continent is yours, so you can see what's left.
• Your companion lives on the map, watching what you tap, asleep at night.
• The map is a paper atlas at dusk: pencil borders, countries in felt
tones, a stamp-ink frontier, harbour lights after dark, and the names
set in a proper serif. The same page, morning and night.
• Sound, fixed and levelled. The crackle when a sound landed over the
soundscape is gone, and every sound now sits at one level.
• The storybook comes forward: each country's own line reaches its lesson,
Pip's lines appear as text too, the postcard is the face of a country's
card, and the answer sheet is a paper slip with a drawn verdict.
• The objects: stamp ink that stays where it landed, continent visas as foil
seals, a passport with a spine and pages that turn, recent stamps as dated
chops, the dossier's locked pages sealed in wax.
• One ivory page on every screen; every stamp a rubber stamp with its own ring
and ink; a shared country, map or invite opens inside the app; and the first
flame asks, once, to guard your streak.
