Most archive apps have a habit worth knowing about: when they hit something they can't handle, some write the file anyway and report success. You end up with files that are the right size, the right name, and empty inside. Nothing warned you.
RarKit reads back what it writes and checks it against the original. If it can't confirm a file came out intact, it says so — and removes what it started.
OPENS EVERYTHING
RAR, ZIP, 7z, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, XZ, ZSTD, ISO, CAB and a dozen more. The format is detected by content, not by the file name, so an archive with the wrong extension still opens.

See what's inside first, and pull out a single file instead of all of them.
ERRORS THAT MAKE SENSE
"This archive is password protected" instead of "Invalid PPMd sequence". Every message says what happened and what you can do about it.
SPLIT AND REASSEMBLE
Break a large archive into numbered pieces for email or a USB drive. Open the first piece and RarKit finds the rest on its own.
PASSWORDS
Open password-protected archives, and create ZIP files encrypted with AES-256.
RIGHT FROM THE FINDER
Right-click any archive and open or extract it without launching the app first.
PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION
RarKit has no networking code at all. Your files never leave your Mac because the app has no way to send them anywhere. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking.
HONEST LIMITS
RarKit cannot create RAR archives. No app on the Mac App Store can: the format belongs to RARLAB and its licence permits reading but forbids writing.
