Fixes across the app, starting with offline maps. • Offline downloads follow the High-resolution cartography setting: turned off, a region takes a quarter of the data • An offline region deleted while downloading stays deleted, and its space shows as free at once • After a launch with no network, Pro can be bought without relaunching • Cancelling Restore Purchases no longer shows a warning • Undoing a measurement point's drag redraws the line • A new search is no longer overridden by the previous one • VoiceOver steps through the whole elevation profile of a long track

Balise refocuses on what it is for: maps, routes and GPX. The tools made for buying property have been removed: the walking areas around Paris-region stations, highlighting parcels by surface, the setback line and building areas. The cadastre stays in Balise Pro as before: parcel outlines, the surface of the parcel you point at, and the label of every visible parcel.

The ruler takes every tap, and No base gets a colour of your choice. While you place a line or an area, the next point now lands where you tap, even right beside a point you already placed. Holding a side before dragging a new point out of it no longer opens the map menu. • No base: choose its colour in Settings, the appearance's own tint or plain black, so see-through layers such as the slope map stand on their own • Buildings and parcels no longer go missing in dense towns • Walking areas keep their colours when you change the background • A tilted map stays sharp up close while it moves • A place or parcel you looked up no longer replaces what you selected while it loaded

The ruler now measures areas as well as distances. Long-press the map, choose Measure distance from here, then switch to Measure an Area and tap four corners: Balise gives the area and its perimeter. Tap a side to add a corner. Free, and needs no connection. A measured line now stops at two points. Drag a point to move it, or tap the line to add one in between. With Balise Pro, the cadastre does more: • Show building areas labels the footprint of each building, from street level up • Show setback draws a dashed line inside the parcel you identify, 1 to 20 m from every limit, to check a distance rule such as the gap to a neighbouring plot Small buildings get smaller labels, and move clear of the parcel numbers.

A ruler, for measuring a straight line across the map. Long-press the map and choose Measure distance from here, then tap point after point. Balise shows the total, with the length and bearing of the last segment, in a bar that takes the search field's place. It is free and needs no connection. The first tap on 3D now tilts the map straight away, instead of only raising the relief. After a trip into 3D, the cadastre and the other layers could come back slightly enlarged around the centre of the map. They now return exactly where they were. A new icon: the trail blaze on a summit, its contours tinted by altitude.

IGN maps now stay lined up with Apple's map when you zoom right in. From the cadastre's zoom inward, Plan IGN, the aerial photos and the other IGN layers could sit slightly off Apple's basemap, slide against it as you panned and jump at each zoom level. They now hold their place. Deleting an offline area while another was downloading could remove tiles that download had just saved. It no longer can. The Pro screen lists what Pro unlocks and what stays free, with restoring a purchase always within reach.

Balise now runs on iPad, and the map stands up in 3D. On iPad, the selected track, parcel, station or place opens in a column beside the map, and the layers and your library open as popovers. A narrow window keeps the iPhone layout. Tap 3D and Plan IGN, slope shading and the cadastre drape over the real relief. Back in 2D, the map is flat as before. With the cadastre on and the map zoomed in, tap a parcel to see its outline and area. Refuges, monuments, Petites Cités and search results now open a sheet with their coordinates and Add to waypoints, and a long press on the map adds a waypoint. A long press near a Paris-region stop offers its walking area, and compared stations each draw in their own colour. The basemap can be hidden, to read the layers above it on their own, and brought back as it was. A search that finds nothing, or fails, now says so. Numbers keep your own separators whatever units you chose.

Walking areas work again, and up to three stations can show theirs at once. Since 1.2.0, the App Store version of Balise failed to draw the walking area of every station. The fault only showed up in the published app, not in testing. It is fixed. Tapping a station now shows its pin and dashed circles without asking IGN for anything. The walking area is a button in the new station sheet, and up to three stations keep their bands at a time, so two stops along a line can be compared. Their colour and intensity can be chosen in Balise's settings. Walking areas you have already opened appear at once after a relaunch, instead of waiting several seconds. A station whose walking area cannot be computed says so in its sheet, with a button to try again, rather than raising an alert on every tap. The map also keeps up better over Paris's monuments and with a long track selected.

Fixes walking times from Paris-region stations, and the cadastre's opacity slider. Asking a station how far you can walk in 5, 10 and 15 minutes sent twelve requests at once, and IGN refused most of them, which then left nearby stations unavailable for several seconds afterwards. Balise now asks three at a time, within the rate the service publishes, so the times arrive instead of an error. Lowering the cadastre's opacity faded the parcel map but not the highlighted parcel or its area labels, which stayed fully opaque on top of an otherwise faded layer. They now fade with the layer they belong to.

Fixes a bug that could leave the map blank. Under system memory pressure the tile cache emptied itself completely instead of trimming down to its size limit. Because the map only ever draws from that cache, the picture did not degrade, it disappeared, and the renderer then asked for the whole viewport again at once, which kept the pressure up. The cache now evicts only its oldest tiles, down to its limit, so a view that is already drawn stays drawn.

The iPhone now runs the Mac's map, and offline maps arrive in Balise Pro. • The same map as the Mac. iOS was carrying a reduced version of it; it now runs the same one, which is what brings the cadastre, offline maps and walking areas to the phone at all. • Offline maps (Pro). Pick an area, pick the layers and zoom levels you want inside it, and Balise keeps those tiles until you delete them. A saved region is never evicted to make room, unlike the cache that has always been there. Only layers whose licence permits keeping them offline are offered. • The cadastre, whole (Pro): the parcel layer, the area of the parcel you point at, and every visible parcel labelled with its own. It used to be a free layer with paid numbers on it. The parcel layer was free through 1.1 and is not any more. • Tap one of 962 Paris-region stations for how far you can walk from it in 5, 10 and 15 minutes, measured from every entrance rather than from the middle of the station. • Search ranks results around the view you are looking at rather than where you happen to be standing. • The library sheet no longer flashes open at launch. • Panning is smoother and tiles load faster. • The paywall opens on whatever you reached for, and its footer stays reachable. Still no account, no sign-up and no telemetry.

KML and KMZ files now open in Balise, and 179 GR routes come built in. • KML and KMZ join GPX everywhere a file arrives: the Files picker, a share sheet, a mail attachment, and "Open in Balise" from another app. The French route sites publish for Google Earth, so the file you are handed second is usually a .kml. • A searchable directory of published route guides, 179 GR routes, with publisher sections that collapse. • Waypoints no longer have to belong to a track. Track endpoints are drawn as their own kind, and each kind can be shown or hidden on its own. • A track can be hidden without deleting it. • Panning is smoother and tiles load faster. Balise also has a way to reach us, which the iPhone did not have. In the library, the "…" menu opens Aide, with Send Feedback and Balise Support. The form opens on balise.mgcrea.io in your own language. No account and no GitHub, and nothing is sent from the app: it hands your browser a web address and stops. • Dismissing the file picker without exporting no longer reports "Export failed." • Four alert titles stayed in French whatever the device language. They are now translated. • Balise may ask you to rate it once you have exported a track to GPX, at most once per version, and never in a session where the upgrade sheet appeared. Library sync is now part of Balise Pro. It ran for everyone before this release; without Pro your library stays on this iPhone. Nothing is deleted, and buying Pro picks it up where it left off. Still no account, no sign-up and no telemetry.
