Slide Tray is a slideshow that lives in your menu bar and turns a folder of pictures into something worth looking up at.
DEPTH, FROM AN ORDINARY PHOTO
Point it at a flat JPEG — an old holiday snap, a picture from your phone — and Slide Tray works out what stands in front of what, then moves the camera through the scene. The subject drifts against its background, edges separate, and a still photograph briefly becomes a place you could walk into. No special camera, no depth data, no account, nothing uploaded: it happens on your Mac, to the photos you already have.
MOTION WITH A BIT OF IMAGINATION
The slow pan-and-zoom everyone knows is only the start. Slide Tray adds gentle rotation and scaling, and combines them differently for every picture, so a long show never settles into the same move twice. Transitions happen between still frames, the way a good projectionist would do it — nothing lurches, nothing snaps.
Choose your folders and Slide Tray plays them as they are — nothing copied, nothing rearranged. Each folder remembers exactly where it left off, so the next show carries on rather than starting over. Videos play inline, with sound, alongside the photos.
ORGANIZE AND EDIT WHILE YOU WATCH
A picture goes by that needs attention. Pause it, keep a copy, tidy your folders as you go, or hand the photo straight to your favourite editor with a single key. Make your changes, and the edited version is waiting in the folder next time the show comes round to it.
IT STARTS WHEN YOU WANT IT TO
Start a show from the menu bar whenever you like — or set an idle time and let your Mac put your photographs up by itself when you walk away from it. There's no Dock icon and nothing in your way; it waits in the menu bar until it's wanted.
