Exam exercises and shared folders. 1.3.0 and 1.3.1 were built without their changes; this version carries them. - Exam exercises: several questions about one text, with multiple choice, fill-in blanks and typed answers, each scored on its own. - Deck directory packages with exercises, such as German A2, B1 and B2, install now. - Images, audio and video of directory decks, and PDFs attached to AI sessions, are kept in vault folders shared with Obsidian. - Two cards whose fronts give the same card id are both studied now, and a note whose deck id another note holds is no longer merged into it. - The editor's Callout menu has a Passage style for reading texts.

Shared folders with Obsidian - Images, audio and video of deck directory decks are kept in a "Decks media" folder in your vault, and copies of PDFs attached to AI sessions in "Decks AI sources". Obsidian uses the same folders, so these files reach every device with the vault. - Settings → Paths can move both folders. A vault set up with the Obsidian plugin follows the plugin's choice. - Decks you add in the app now also appear in Obsidian with your reviews (with Decks 2.12.2 in Obsidian). Fixes - Two cards whose fronts give the same card id are both studied now; before, the second was left out. - A note whose deck id another note already holds is no longer merged into that deck; the deck list names both notes. - Rebuilding a card's state from its review history keeps each card's own history. - Exam exercises keep their review history when their heading is reworded.

Exam exercises - Ask several questions about one text: in an exam deck, write the text under a question heading, then each question as a sub-heading. Under a sub-heading, a checklist is multiple choice, highlighted words are blanks to fill in, and other text is the typed answer. - For short exercises, write each question as a line of text above its own checklist. - A comment below a question explains that question in the results. - An exam shows an exercise on one screen: its text above the questions on iPhone, beside them on iPad. Each question is scored on its own, and an exercise stays whole and in order when questions are shuffled. - Review, cram and browse show an exercise with its text and all of its questions. - The editor's Callout menu has a Passage style for reading texts. - A new vault's demo exam includes two example exercises. - Deck directory packages that contain exercises need this version. - The .dpkg import row in Settings now matches the other rows.

The deck directory • Open ready-made decks from decksmd.app/decks straight in DecksMD, or install a .dpkg file from Settings or the Files app. They sit in their own Deck directory section and review like any other deck. • A package of several decks shows as one folder you can review, cram, examine or remove as one, and each deck can still be studied on its own. • Directory decks come with their own study settings. You can change daily limits, review order, learning steps, retention and voice, and reset them to the package's settings at any time. • Exams on a package use its exam settings and draw only from its exam decks. Reviewing • What's Next, Statistics and the deck list now count only what each deck's daily limits allow today, so the time estimate matches your actual review. • Rating a card gives a light tap, and a firmer one for Again. Editor • The editing bar starts with Table, Callout and Insert, and Table offers one, two or three columns. • Images and embeds inside tables now show while editing. • The reading view and the card lens match the editor's look and spacing. • With the keyboard up, the last lines of a note can always be scrolled into view.

Writing notes • A command palette (⌘P) lists what you can do on the screen you are on. ⌘O finds a note, ⌘N starts one. • The editing bar adds headings, strikethrough, highlight, numbered lists, indent, tables, callouts and an insert menu. Typing / at the start of a word lists the same commands. • Callouts show as coloured boxes, and checkboxes tick with a tap. • Links open their note, holding a link previews it, and a link to a note that does not exist yet creates it. • Embedded images, notes and PDF pages show in the editor and the reading view. • Properties fold, use the system date picker, can be renamed with a tap and follow the vault's property types. • Settings › Editor adds a text font, a code font and a readable line length. • Unsaved edits are saved when the app goes to the background. AI tab • A running round shows what it is doing, including how long it has been thinking. • A slow round offers Stop, and a provider that stops answering ends with an error instead of waiting. • Large PDF selections are generated a section at a time, so the first cards appear sooner. • Broken formatting in generated cards is repaired as they arrive; anything left is marked with Fix formatting. • Discard all, with Undo, sits next to Keep all. • Rounds show as short previews in the chat. Tap one to open its cards in a pane. • Coverage works for notes as well as PDFs, with progress, Stop and Continue reading. Review • The breadcrumb fits on one line under the title, with earlier parts folded.

• A table row whose answer holds a cloze is now asked: before you reveal it, the answer shows with the blank, in review, cram and browse. Clozes under a heading work the same way. • Exams no longer show the answer of a cloze written in a card's front, such as a one-column table row. The sentence is shown with a blank to type the answer into. • In exams, a ==highlight== inside inline code is no longer taken for the blank. • Math in the options of multiple-choice questions in the AI tab is rendered instead of showing as raw LaTeX.

• The app now keeps its own database at .decksmd/flashcards.db in the vault and only reads the Obsidian plugin's. The first launch after updating copies your schedules, review history and profiles across; changes made in the app reach the desktop through the sync log. • Saving merges what is already on disk first, so the app no longer overwrites changes another device made. A save cut short when the app closes is recovered on the next launch. • A deck is removed only once its note is confirmed gone. A note that loses its deck tag keeps its cards and history, hidden, until the tag returns. • Restoring a backup first backs up the current state, and a later sync no longer undoes the restore. • Cards keep their schedule on every device when you reword them: the anchor in the note now carries the card's id. Existing anchors are updated in the background, a few notes at a time. • Notes with accented letters in their names no longer split into two decks; decks split this way by earlier versions are merged. • With AI turned on, a new AI tab keeps your generation sessions — their rounds, cards and attached PDF — so you can reopen them. • Generated cards are checked against card-writing rules. A flagged card says why and offers a one-tap fix, and Undo puts the original back. • An instruction typed under a round rewrites that round. • The AI can write multiple-choice exam questions, and you can set how many each PDF section gets. • The AI tab shows which concepts in a PDF have no cards, few cards or cards you keep missing, with a generate or repair action for each. • Ask questions about a source and keep an answer as a card. "What did I miss?" checks the source against the cards you already have. • A session's PDF opens in the app; select a passage, or a page that is only an image, to make cards from it. • Up to 10 photos can be attached as a source. • Generated cards keep the page they came from. • When saving, cards the note or another deck already holds are left out, with a count. • A card made from a source that keeps being missed offers a rewrite in review, and exam results list the sections with the most misses. • With DecksMD Pro, typed exam answers can be graded by meaning; answers the check is unsure about come back for you to grade. • Before AI is first used with a provider, the app asks for permission and lists what is sent and where it goes. • Your DecksMD Pro account can be deleted in Settings → AI. Notes, decks and review history are not affected. • Multiple-choice questions are answered by tapping options in review, cram and browse. With a keyboard, 1–9 pick an option. • A card rated Again comes back before the session ends, and the end screen offers a cram of the cards still on Again. • Notes with reverse: true in their properties get reverse cards, as on the desktop. • A cram can be resumed from the deck menu. • Today, What's Next, Statistics and deck details follow your day rollover hour, and the deck list applies the global daily limit. • Exams keep the note's order when shuffle is off, and typed answers ignore punctuation and a leading "the". • Profiles with a retention target of exactly 0.5 or 0.995 can be reviewed again. • When a note open in the editor changes on another device, autosave pauses and offers Keep mine or Use theirs. • Notes added or removed elsewhere appear in the Vault tab without reopening it, and search shows the text around each match. • Shared text caught by the built-in Inbox rule waits in the inbox for you to file or discard. • Re-importing an Anki package into the same folder keeps the progress you made in DecksMD. • On iPad, two-pane screens use the full width, and cram and exams get the scratchpad column. • Counts use correct singular and plural forms in all 13 languages. • Smaller fixes to browse, card editing, statistics, exams and image occlusion.

Fixes for card loss when the app and the Obsidian plugin share a vault. • Saving now merges what is already on disk instead of replacing it, so a save can only add cards, never remove them. • Database copies left behind by iCloud when two devices write at once are now found and folded back in. Their cards, review history and profile assignments are recovered. • Databases are written through a temporary file, so an interrupted write can no longer truncate one. • Backup filenames carry the device that wrote them, so two devices reviewing on the same day no longer overwrite each other's backup. • Old backups are now pruned on iOS, which previously did not happen. • Cards reviewed in the app are anchored in their note, so they keep their scheduling if their wording later changes.
