MAP YOUR STORAGE
Explore your home folder as a treemap or a list ordered by size. Drill into folders, inspect large findings and reveal them in Finder. The storage map shows where space goes without removing files.
UNDERSTAND LOCAL AI STORAGE
See storage grouped by the tools that created it, including local models, download caches and agent data. CacheLantern distinguishes regenerable caches from model libraries and session history. Protected models and history are shown for information and can be revealed in Finder.
REVIEW BEFORE REMOVAL
Each finding has a size, path and risk tier. Queue eligible caches, inspect your choices and run Preview (Dry Run) to see what would move. The app checks its safety rules again at the moment of removal. Protected locations are refused, and skipped items are reported.
USE THE MACOS TRASH
Items you choose to remove go to the macOS Trash. CacheLantern does not permanently delete them. You can restore them from Trash until you empty it yourself.
KEEP A RECORD
Copy or export a Markdown storage report. Use the menu bar companion for disk usage and quick actions, or adjust scan zones and size thresholds in Settings.

CacheLantern is the Mac storage app in the Forge for AI family. Its new lantern identity sits alongside the familiar charcoal, gold and orange interface. AI describes the tools and files it helps you inspect; the app does not use AI to decide what to remove.
The app works locally on your Mac. Grant access to your home folder using the standard macOS folder picker. No account is required.
