New: a wish list for the plants you want, projects for terrariums and pots, and notes on your photos. No account, no subscription, no nagging.
Foliar remembers when your plants need you, and asks nothing else of you.
No account. No sign-up. No subscription. Your plants, photos and notes live on your phone and work with no connection at all.
NEW: A WISH LIST, AND PROJECTS
Keep the plants you want on a wish list, with a photo, where to buy them and roughly what they cost. When you finally get one, "I got it" moves it into your plants with its photos and notes. Projects are for the things you make: a terrarium, an arrangement, a painted pot, with materials to tick off, progress photos and the plants they use.
GOING AWAY?
Turn on away mode and reminders pause until the day you get back. Nothing is marked as done for you, and nothing piles up as guilt while you are gone. Come home and settle it all at once, or one plant at a time.
FORGOT TO LOG IT?
You watered on Tuesday and remembered on Thursday. Hold any care button and pick the day it actually happened. Your history stays true, and the next reminder is measured from the real date rather than from when you got round to tapping.
EVERY PLANT, ONE PLACE
Add a plant with a photo, a room and a species from the built-in library of 179 houseplants, which brings sensible care intervals with it. Watering, misting, feeding, pruning, repotting: each on its own schedule, each adjustable, none of them compulsory.
A JOURNAL THAT SHOWS GROWTH
Photograph a plant over months and watch the change. Write a note on any photo, and see each one's date at a glance. See how a plant has been doing as a simple trend line, from the health check-ins you record yourself.
CALM REMINDERS
One quiet notification when something is due, at a time you choose. Mark it done or push it to tomorrow from the notification itself. No streaks, no badges shouting at you, no daily engagement targets.
OPTIONAL AI, ON YOUR OWN KEY
If you want it: name a plant from a photo, ask what looks wrong with one, or get a suggested care routine you tick yourself. If a diagnosis misses, tell it what you see and it tries again. Answers come in the language the app is set to. It runs on your own API key from OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic, so there is no Foliar server, no account and nothing bought. Only what you choose to ask is sent: the photo or question, and for a diagnosis that plant's recent care, so the answer fits it. The key stays encrypted on your device. Every answer is a suggestion: nothing changes, and no reminder is created, until you say so.
YOURS TO KEEP
Export everything as a ZIP whenever you like and put it wherever you keep things. Import it back on any device. Your data cannot be taken away from you, because it was never anywhere else.
Available in English, German, Spanish and French.

A wish list, and projects
Foliar has always been about the plants you have. This release adds the ones you want, and the things you make with them.
The wish list keeps a plant you have seen somewhere: a name, a species, a photo, where to buy it, roughly what it costs, how much you want it. All of that is optional except the name. When you finally get it, "I got it" moves it into your plants with its photos and its notes, and remembers how long it was on the list.
Projects are for a terrarium, an arrangement, a painted pot, or anything else you are making. Materials to tick off, photos as it comes along, and the plants it uses, whether you already own them or they are still on the wish list. A project that uses a plant you later lose keeps that plant by name, so the record of what you made stays whole.
Both live behind a switch at the top of the Plants tab. There is no new tab, nothing new on the home screen except one quiet button, and no reminders: a terrarium is not a plant with a watering can pointed at it.
Notes on your photos
The photo journal has held a notes field since the first version, and only the assistant could ever fill it. Now you can. Add a note when you take a photo, or write one on any photo later, and the thumbnails show the date and the first line so the journal reads at a glance. An answer from the assistant is a note like any other: correct it, rewrite it, or remove it.
A diagnosis you can argue with
Asking what looks wrong with a plant now uses the stronger model, answers in the language the app is set to, and knows that plant's recent care. A photograph alone cannot tell too much water from too little. If the answer is still wrong, tell it what you can see and it tries again with your note. One correction, not a conversation.
The assistant remains entirely optional and runs on your own provider key.
Also in this release
59 more species, bringing the catalogue to 179: more palms and ferns, the flowering plants people are given, a few carnivores, and the herbs that live on a kitchen windowsill.
If you would rather not see the banners for a while, you can watch one video to hide them for a day. It is offered quietly, never as a pop-up, and nothing is bought.
