The Wire, in the app. A new tab sits between the Feed and the Deck. Every day the Wire takes the news apart the way The Black Book of Power teaches you to read it: the words an outlet chose, the picture, the timing, and the chapter that answers it. Open any article to read the analysis, save the ones you want to keep, and share the ones that matter. Ask the Wire. Seen an article that is working on people? Send its link with your reason, and a PDF or screenshots if it sits behind a subscription. A request is seen by Stan and the desk, never by other readers. If Stan takes it, a notification tells you and the desk takes it apart in a later analysis. Requests are open to signed-in readers with a book on their account. Your profile, one tap away. Your face now sits at the top right of every page, signed in or not. Its menu opens your profile and Settings, which moved out of the bottom bar to make room for the Wire. Yours to switch off. In Settings you can hide the Wire on this device, or remove it from your account for good. Read it. A card of The Black Deck can be hard to read on a small screen. Tap Read it on an open card, or on a card you carry, and its words open as plain text in your phone's own text size and your app's language. Also: the Feed now opens up to date, and the line that counts new posts appears only for posts that arrive while you read. A comment's last line is no longer cut off on iPhone. A post's comment count matches the comments you can open.

The whole deck, inside the app. If you own The Black Deck, all 72 cards now live on your phone: nothing to download, and no network needed once you have signed in. The card turns. Pull a card and it turns over in your hand, from its back to its face. Pinch a card. Two fingers bring a card close enough to read its small print. Let go and it falls back into place. Carrying. The cards you keep now sit under one clear word, Carrying, the first thing you see in the Deck tab. A card you carry leaves the deck, and the count, until you let it go. An empty slot says Pull a card and takes you to the deck. Read means read. In the Feed, a message you open clears its badge at once, and Mark all as read covers your messages too. Also: the box where you write a comment shows five lines at your own text size; every time in the Feed keeps itself current; on iPad the Library's buttons stay on one row at large text sizes.

The Black Deck. A new Deck tab holds the printed deck of 72 cards: tap the pack to pull a card, swipe it away for the next, shuffle with a button or a shake of the phone, and carry up to three cards with you in With You. Five cards are open to everyone, and the whole deck opens for readers who own it, the moment they sign in. The Library has four rooms now: Library, Highlights, Bookmarks and Translations, one row of words above the shelf. The audiobook plays at ten speeds, from 0.75 to 2, in the player and in the small dock. Also: a message can be sent to a reader who posts under a pen name; the Feed shows thirty posts at a time with a Show more button; the tab bar keeps its frosted ground on iOS 18; and the fixes since the last version.
