The sidebar now highlights the selected item in Topoform's own accent color instead of your Mac's. When a run can't finish, Topoform now says in plain words what to try next instead of showing technical engine output. Topoform now confirms its App Store purchase when it opens. If it can't, it shows why and offers Try Again.

Print check: after a Topographic Flow export, Topoform checks the file on your Mac: whether it fits your printer's bed, its print time against your budget, its mesh size, and whether an installed slicer imports it. Its optional Ask button sends only these to the AI model selected in Providers: your printer setup, loaded filaments, and the export's settings, measurements and check results, including the four colors Topoform picked from your artwork and each one's share of the area. It never sends the artwork, the 3MF or any file name, and you can preview what is sent. "Apply and re-export" applies the suggested settings to a new file, validates it like any export and shows before and after; earlier files are kept. Providers: connect an AI model server on your Mac without a key, edit addresses and pick models from a list. Anything sent to a provider off your Mac now needs your consent first; revoke it in Providers. Art direction sends your artwork, and chat does too unless you turn off Send the artwork; both now send a smaller JPEG copy instead of the full-size file. Exports that used to fail now finish. Topographic Flow and Carved Panel art squarer than 4:3 on 256 mm beds like the default printer's no longer fails at the end of a long export: Topoform makes its surface detail just coarse enough to stay within its mesh size limit. Printers with more than 256 mm of usable bed are no longer refused, so lithophanes now export on the Prusa XL preset. Near-square art now fits rectangular beds; turn it in your slicer if needed. iPhone photos (HEIC) now work as artwork.

Try the sample: one click shows a processed lithophane plate, its tonal levels and print estimate, before you have chosen any artwork. Topographic Flow gains its fourth named style, Weather — softened landforms swept by swirling currents. Choosing new artwork now clears the old preview, so Export always builds the picture you see. A style suggested by your connected model now applies in Carved Panel and Lithophane as well. An installed slicer that hangs or will not start no longer fails an export: the file is judged on its geometry checks, and the validation report records the slicer as skipped.

Maintenance release. This build refreshes Topoform's bundled relief engine. Topographic Flow, Carved Panel, and Lithophane compute the same geometry, apply the same validation gates, and export the same 3MF files as 1.2.1.

Topoform now asks for an App Store rating only after a real 3MF has been written and at least one installed slicer has verified the import. The native StoreKit request waits until the completed export state, never runs at launch, and is attempted at most once per app version. Relief geometry, presets, printer profiles, and the validated lithophane engine are unchanged.

New: Lithophane. Print a backlit photo plate from any image — tone becomes thickness on a single translucent plate, held to the same deterministic gates as every other mode: thickness window, tonal-order fidelity measured on the exported mesh, watertightness, and slicer-verified import. Includes a calibration coupon wedge, translucent-spool setup in the filament rack, and four presets. Existing Topographic Flow and Carved Panel outputs are unchanged.

New: Pressed Brocade, a carved-panel style for pattern lids. Every ribbon of the artwork lands on one uniform plateau no matter how wide it is, the ground stays a dead-flat plate, and the only relief between them is a crisp constant shoulder. Two new acceptance gates verify the pressed look, plate flatness and two-level dominance, before a file ships. Also in this update: choose Editorial Dark, Editorial Light, or Auto from the window toolbar. And reliability fixes in the relief engine: a field with no finite sample, or a palette channel that ended up covering nothing, could stop a run with an error that named neither; both are now handled and reported plainly.

Carved Panel mode: a second relief pipeline that reads your artwork as a bas-relief rather than as terrain — figure and ground separated by an Allen-Cahn phase field, walls cut at the slope cap, your line work kept as tool marks, and an optional reaction-diffusion crust on the raised figure. Add a raised rim for gift-box lids and plaques. New studio chat: connect your own model backend and describe the piece you want; it proposes a build you can apply in one click. Geometry stays deterministic and gate-checked on your Mac.
