Pinned: Network Monitor
Speed, latency, CPU, and more
Only for Mac

Mac
Live download and upload speed in your menu bar. See which app uses your connection and how much of your data cap is left.
Pinned shows live download and upload speed in the menu bar: which app is using the connection, how much data cap remains, and whether the link holds up under load.
It does one job. Not ten.
BUILD YOUR OWN READOUT
Thirteen readings, and you choose which of them appear and in what order: download, upload, both combined, latency, packet loss, session usage, period usage, processor, memory, storage, battery, uptime and weather.
Each reserves a fixed width, so numbers never shift the menu bar. Seven themes set the whole look at once; each control can be overridden.
WHAT YOU SEE, ALWAYS FREE
The live readout sits in your menu bar and stays out of your way. One row or two. Arrows,
diagonal arrows, triangles, dots, letters, or no icon at all. Download only, upload only, or
both. Your own colors or plain monochrome. An optional inline sparkline.
The readout holds a fixed width, so it never jitters as the numbers change and never shoves
the other items in your menu bar sideways. That sounds small. Live with a monitor that does
not do it and you will disagree.
Click for live rates, a throughput chart and connection detail: address, hardware address, link speed, DNS, and for Wi-Fi the network name, signal, channel, band and security. The panel also shows this Mac: processor, memory, storage, battery and uptime.
IN YOUR LANGUAGE, INCLUDING THE NUMBERS
Thirty languages, not only labels. Digits follow your locale: a German reader sees 1,2 MB/s, an Arabic reader sees Arabic-Indic digits, mirrored right to left.

WHICH APP IS USING YOUR BANDWIDTH
See processes moving data now, named properly, ranked by real use. No admin password, background helper or permission prompt.
YOUR DATA CAP, ON YOUR BILLING CYCLE
Not the calendar month: set your cycle's start day. Heading for an overrun, it says so plainly: at this rate you reach your cap on Thursday.
IS THE CONNECTION ACTUALLY GOOD
Idle-link latency tells you almost nothing; load does the damage. Pinned saturates the link on demand and reports responsiveness and bufferbloat. Press the button when you want; it never runs alone.
ALERTS THAT DO NOT CRY WOLF
Get told when speed, latency or data cap crosses a line you set, only once it has stayed there. A one-second spike never notifies you.
USAGE HISTORY
Daily totals, per network: hotel Wi-Fi versus phone hotspot.
BUILT WITH RESTRAINT
Pinned is sandboxed: no background helper, root daemon or login item unless you ask. Nothing to uninstall but the app.
It collects nothing. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no account. By default it makes no outbound request of its own. The three features that can reach the network, the connectivity check, the public IP lookup and the weather module, are all off until you turn them on, and the responsiveness test runs only when you press the button. Weather asks a national meteorological service for the temperature, sending a position rounded to about a kilometer and nothing else: no account, no key, no identifier.
Location is requested for two reasons: macOS will not reveal the name of the Wi-Fi network you are on to an app without it, and the weather module needs to know where you are. Decline, and everything else still works.
REQUIREMENTS
macOS 13 or later. Apple silicon and Intel.
SUBSCRIPTION
Pinned is free to download and use. Pinned Pro is an auto-renewable subscription, USD 4.99 per year, unlocking per-app bandwidth, data caps, alerts, the responsiveness test and usage history. The menu bar readout and every appearance setting stay free permanently.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. It renews automatically for the same period and price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage it in your Apple Account settings.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
The panel keeps a record of what happened: a new Recent events section lists the alerts that fired, the connection dropping and coming back, and the Mac waking from sleep, and says how many happened since you last looked.
When you have a connection-lost alert, the connection coming back is announced too.
The keyboard shortcut is chosen with a recorder: click it and press the keys you want.
