Free, open source, and completely offline: no account, no subscription, and no
network code anywhere in it. A terminal for one device, a two-port monitor.
diSerial combines a serial terminal with a two-port bus monitor. Send and receive data
through one serial port, or observe both directions of a conversation through two ports
on a single merged timeline. View HEX and ASCII data and save local recordings for later
export. Free and open source, with no account or subscription required.
SERIAL TERMINAL
Connect to any available serial port on your Mac and view sent and received data with
timestamps and byte counts. Choose from standard baud rates and serial framing options.
Use send history, timed sending, and DTR/RTS controls.
TWO-PORT MONITOR
With suitable serial monitoring hardware and connections, capture both directions of a
conversation through two ports. View them on one timeline, coloured by channel, with the
time gap between frames.
Sending is disabled by default. Manual sending requires explicit confirmation and can
affect connected devices. Timed sending, shortcut buttons and auto-answer rules are
unavailable in monitor sessions.
SHORTCUT BUTTONS
Save frequently used commands as named buttons and send them with one click. Your saved
shortcuts remain available after you restart the app. Shortcut buttons are available in
terminal sessions only.
AUTO-ANSWER RULES
Send a predefined reply automatically when a received frame contains a specified byte
sequence. Use this to test a device or simulate its responses. Rules are available in
terminal sessions only, and all rules start disabled each time you launch the app. If
more than one enabled rule matches, only the first replies.
RECORDING AND EXPORT
Record serial data to a local database and export to TSV or CSV. Manage past recordings
in one list: filter by date, export a recording again, or select multiple
recordings for deletion.
NINE INTERFACE LANGUAGES
English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Spanish,
Italian and European Portuguese. The first launch follows a supported system language,
with English as the fallback. Change the interface language from the menu without
restarting. Traditional Chinese uses Taiwanese terminology.
FOR APPLE SILICON MACS
diSerial is built for Apple Silicon Macs. The Mac App Store version runs in Apple's
sandbox and requests serial-port access for the port you choose.
LOCAL DATA, NO NETWORK FEATURES
The application has no network code, telemetry, analytics, crash uploads or built-in
update checks. Recordings, settings and logs stay in the app's private container. Export
files are saved to the location you choose.
WORKS WITH YOUR SERIAL HARDWARE
diSerial is the companion application for DSD TECH serial hardware and also works with
other serial ports available on your Mac. Use it for serial communication testing, PLC
troubleshooting, UART and embedded development.
A NOTE ON DATA
If you used the version downloaded from our website, the Mac App Store version starts
with a separate set of recordings and settings. Nothing is copied between the two
installations.
