New: pick where you shot on a map — the time zone comes with it — or type coordinates when you're offline. Hand-solved deep-sky photos are fully labelled.
Put names to the sky you photographed. Night Atlas identifies star patterns in your own images and helps you share the story of the shot.
IMPORT. IDENTIFY. LABEL.
Open a supported nightscape from your camera or phone. Night Atlas matches its stars against a built-in catalog, then places constellation figures and sky labels over the photograph.
KEEP YOUR COMPOSITION
Adjust label density, choose the objects you want to show and remove individual labels. Export a labeled image at full resolution.
TELL THE STORY OF THE SHOT
Build a shot-data card from the photo's EXIF. Edit its rows and style, then place it over your image. You can stamp a photograph without solving it, and keep your work together in the Library.
MADE BY PHOTOGRAPHERS, BACKED BY SCIENCE
Created by a Pacific Northwest nightscape photographer. On-device astrometry matches patterns in your photograph to catalog stars. The background photography is the developer's own work.
Single, full-resolution frames work best. Star reduction, missing capture data, stitched panoramas and heavily altered skies can prevent a reliable solve. No result is guaranteed for every photograph.
Try three free exports. A one-time Full Unlock provides continued export access on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Earlier paid purchasers keep full access after their App Store receipt is verified. No subscription, account or photo upload. Your photographs are processed on your device.
Ratings & Reviews
This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Tell Night Atlas when and where you took a photo — on a map.
• When & where: search a place or drag a map to the spot. The place sets the time zone for you, and a photo with no date gets a calendar and clock. No coordinates to type.
• Offline? The app says so and lets you enter coordinates instead.
• Manual Mode: hand-solved deep-sky photos are fully labelled again.
• Erasing: nothing jumps into the space a removed name leaves, the photo gets more room while you erase, and constellation names above a cleared line stay put.
• Glow-filtered Milky Way edits that used to be turned away solve more often.
• The stamp card's Sky line names the constellations that fill your frame.
• Pinch-zoom stays inside the photo.
