FirstSpar: Work Conversations
Hard talks, scored out loud
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
You've rehearsed it in your head for days. Say it out loud once to someone who pushes back before it counts. Don't make the real one your first try.
Hard conversations are easier when they aren't the first time you've had them.
FirstSpar is a voice-first practice simulator for difficult conversations at work. You say it out loud. An AI counterpart answers back — pushes back, gets defensive, asks the question you weren't ready for — and the conversation keeps going.
Your voice is never recorded.
No scripts to memorize. No role-play partner required.
PRACTICE WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THEY ANSWER
Knowing your opening line is the easy part.
FirstSpar builds a counterpart from the situation you're actually preparing for — their role, their relationship to you, how they tend to react, and what they are going to disagree with.
So you can rehearse the part that goes wrong:
- They push back, or go quiet
- They get defensive
- They question your reasoning
- They avoid the issue entirely
- They ask the thing you hadn't thought about
BUILD IT AROUND YOUR REAL SITUATION
Tell FirstSpar who you need to speak with, what has been happening, how they tend to react, and what outcome you need.
It turns that into a simulation with that person in it, and you have the conversation out loud.
OR START FROM ONE THAT'S READY
Over twenty guided scenarios, including:
- Giving feedback that won't land well
- Managing someone who used to be your peer
- A high performer who is becoming the problem
- Asking for the raise you keep putting off
- An offer that came in lower than you expected
- Saying no to more work
- Letting someone go
- Resigning without burning the bridge
- A manager who won't let go
GET COACHED AFTER EVERY SPAR
When the conversation ends you get a debrief built from what actually happened, not generic advice.
- Scored on clarity, empathy, specificity, holding the line and composure
- What worked, quoted from your own conversation
- One thing to try next time
- Your full transcript
- How ready you felt before, and after
- What to practise next
CHOOSE HOW HARD IT PUSHES BACK
Practice — some resistance, with room to recover.
Realistic — responds the way this person probably would.
Pressure Test — challenges you, interrupts, and doesn't make it easy.
FirstSpar Pro unlocks Realistic and Pressure Test, longer sessions, and building more conversations of your own.
YOUR VOICE IS NEVER RECORDED
FirstSpar turns what you say into your counterpart's reply in real time. The audio is never saved or stored.
Your transcript and debrief are kept, so you can read back what you said and see whether the practice is working.
Because reading advice isn't the same as saying the words out loud.
Practice the conversation before it matters.
