Copy anywhere. Paste clean. Strips zero-width spaces, stray control codes, and curly quotes the moment you copy - and leaves your formatting untouched.
Text you copy is rarely just text.
Web pages, chat apps, PDFs, and word processors all pad their output with characters you cannot see: zero-width spaces, byte order marks, bidirectional controls, soft hyphens, non-breaking spaces, and curly quotes. They survive a paste. They corrupt code, break diffs, defeat search, and turn clean text into noisy text.
Clipboard Sanitizer removes them the moment you copy. There is no shortcut to press and no window to open. It lives in the menu bar and does one job.
WHAT IT CLEANS
Four groups, each one a switch you control:
- Invisible characters. Zero-width space, word joiner, byte order mark, soft hyphen, bidirectional controls, deprecated formatting characters, the Unicode tag block, and variation selectors left behind where nothing varies.
- Control characters. C0 and C1 control codes, DEL, and the replacement character. Tab and newline are preserved.
- Whitespace. Non-breaking and exotic spaces become ordinary spaces, line and paragraph separators become newlines, Windows line endings become Unix ones, and trailing whitespace is stripped. Indentation is left alone.
- Smart punctuation. Curly quotes become straight, em and en dashes become hyphens, ellipses become three periods, and primes become quote marks.
TIDIER WRITING, IF YOU ASK FOR IT
An Advanced section adds five optional phrasing cleanups: overused words, filler phrases, sentence-opening connectives, stacked hedges, and closing pleasantries. Each is its own switch, every one of them ships off, and an update never turns one on. They are the only rules that change your words rather than the characters between them.
CAREFUL BY DEFAULT
Your formatting survives. Rich text keeps its bold, its links, and its styles. Only the text inside is cleaned.
A clipboard that needs no cleaning is left byte for byte identical. Nothing is rewritten unless something actually changed.
Emoji stay whole. The zero-width joiners that hold together sequences like a family emoji are kept, and so are the joiners that Devanagari, Persian, and Arabic depend on to render correctly.
Passwords are never touched. Anything an app marks as concealed or transient, the way password managers do, is left exactly as it is. So are images, files, and every format the app does not recognise.
CHOOSE WHERE IT RUNS
Cleaning can run everywhere except the apps you list, or only in the apps you list. Add apps from the ones you have copied from recently, from what is running now, or by browsing your Applications folder.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Nothing you copy leaves your Mac. There is no network access, no account, no analytics, and no clipboard history. The app reads your clipboard, cleans it, and forgets it.
