Silo Snip copies text off your screen. That is the whole app.
Press a shortcut, drag a box, paste. No window opens, nothing is saved, and you are back in whatever you were doing.
WHAT IT IS FOR
* Text in a screenshot, a video still, a scanned PDF, or an error dialog you cannot select.
* Anything your Mac can display but will not let you copy.
HOW IT WORKS
* A shortcut you choose. It works from any app, in any Space, whether or not Silo Snip is in front. Change it in Settings if the default collides with something you already use.
* A crosshair across every display. Drag the region you want; Escape cancels.
* Apple's Vision framework reads it, on your Mac. There is no model to download, no first-run setup, and no inference service.
* Reading order is preserved, so pasted text keeps its line breaks instead of arriving as one run-on paragraph.
* If a region holds no readable text you get a brief notice, rather than a silent clipboard that still holds whatever you copied ten minutes ago.
PRIVACY
* No networking entitlement of any kind. Without them the App Sandbox refuses outbound and inbound connections outright — enforced by macOS, not promised by us.
* The captured image is never written to disk. It exists in memory only long enough for Vision to read it. There is no history, no cache, and nothing to clear afterwards.
* No account, no analytics, no telemetry.
WHAT IT DELIBERATELY DOES NOT DO
It does not turn a screenshot into a table, decode QR codes, generate code from a mockup, or answer questions about what it saw. It stops at plain text on the clipboard on purpose.
REQUIREMENTS
macOS 14 or later. Screen Recording permission, used only for the rectangle you drag and only while you are dragging it.
